How can I safetly use NOS

Thsi summer I have a lot of mods planned. Its on a stock Engine though(LO3). I will get Headers, most likely Eledlebrock TES, but im not sure, Ive heard they are a god value though. Then I will get gears, most likely 3.42 because I want to be able to have a top end. Then I am thinking about Nitrous. What do you think of that? Once I have nitrous I will have a full free flowing exhaust also. How much would you use?

89 camaro 305 tbi, flomaster 3 chamber cat back, gutted cat, Edlebrock open element, 2 kicker comp 12"'s, polk for the rest. Phoenix gold xs2300 to subs, kicker impulse 404XI to 4 speakers, pioneer DEH- P7000R head unit, and finally a 12 disc changer. Full leather interior from MrMikes.com

Disclaimer: You can't be 100% safe with nitrous. One wrong move, and your time is up.

That being said, many people have run nitrous for a LONG time on their cars. You would want to purchase items like fuel pressure cutoff switch, bottle heater, etc. The things that kill a nitrous motor is mainly detonation. This is caused by having too much air and not enough fuel in the chamber when the plugs fire. The number 8 cly on most v8s is the first to go, most of the time. When using nitrous, it is important to add extra fuel to compensate. Read up on some nitrous sites and get all the info you can before you buy anything. Learn the differences between a wet and dry kit, etc. A great place to find some info is the manufacturer's sites. Also, goto www.f-body.org and page down. You will see several nitrous links to follow. I also think you can check out www.n20.org Have Fun! A little common sense will save major headaches in the future with nitrous use.

I'm in the same boat.
I'll be adding a 50 shot of NOS to my LO3 soon.
I'm all about playing it safe.
Thats my suggestion.
You shouldn't have to adjust timing if you stay under 100 horse shot.

Don't spray over 100 HP and retard timing 2 degrees for ever 50 HP of spray.Run on step colder plug than factory recommends and make sure your ignition and fuel systems are up to par and you'll have no problems.

If you really want an engine to last you can use a proggressive controller, to feed the NOS gradually and not all in one shot...
This really saves an engine !!
