Hey guy- have some basic concerns and questions about SC's

Welp, in the spring, i plan on aquiering a 88-90 formula 350. there are several things in which i will want to do. i will have the money left over for a t56 swap for sure. that money is already set aside. but supposing i were to take a loan on a really nice car in good shape, i might just consider adding headers, a cat back and a SC. now for the q's!

1 Which one to get? i am looking for a quiet drive if possible. i also want an intercooler. i will have a cowl hood on the car also, so i will be making a cold air induction for it by routing the intake that would normally be under the hood, up to the sealed cowl area.

2 what else along with the SC do you guys suggest? i would assume a chip would be in order, but what about the injectors? would i need to step up to the 24# injectors?

3 Anyother suggestions?

i know that 4000 dollars is prob in order in total for the SC setup... prob about 2500-3000 for the SC and then all the extras... i am somebody that wants stuff done right the first time.

Thanx a lot for those who answer for me!

Steve

Finally, someone who goes by my modo, "do it once, do it right." Since you have so many oprions available to you i would suggest doing some research and seeing which blower you like better Vortech or ATI. I like them both personally, but went with ATI because of the intercooler.

yeah you will probably be seeing a lot of questions from me.. hehe- i have done a little research, and have found the ATI to be a little nicer unit. but as far as a chip and injectors go, what am i lookin at there? step up the ignition too? i just want to get it right the first time. (or at least the 2nd )

i guess i will do a little more poking around... i started a new job today so i am not gonna have as much free time as i have had...

I too went with the ATI because of the intercooler setup...but the vortech was my second choice...and if they would have offered a air to air intercooler they would have been my first choice...but anyways!!!

as far as the injectors go...if it is a stock engine and you plan to keep it that way and you only run 10# boost then you will need 24# injectors...if you start doing mods, like aftermarket intake,runners,plenum,etc....then you will have to go with even bigger injectors...

as far as the ignition...it's always better to upgrade there...but it's not required...
and same goes for the chip...to maximize performance a custom chip will be in order...

hope this helps ya...

well from what i understand, with the added intercooler, i won't neccesarily need to adjust the timing curve at all. If i were to upgrade to the 52 mm throttle body, a slp set of runners, and a better base- what would be the next step up for injectors? 36? or 28? the motor will have headers and a cat back of course.

one other question.. how loud in the ati unit? i lik eit better for two reasons, it has the intercooler, and it doesnt use engine oil to lubricate its self. thanks for the info guys!
