Turbo Experts w/in please

I'm interested in your ideas in all facets of a "proper" custom twin turbo setup. The goal is a wicked street combo that runs well at high speed and carves canyons.

Take a look at my sig for my current combo. I'm about to convert my weiand street ram to multi point and purchase heads... probably AFR. I have access to free labor in the welding / tubing fabrication area. I'm not a rich man so please keep it simple and relatively low buck. I want to retain my emissions controls and my A/C.

Hey Dan, no kidding and seriously, if you're going to contemplate this route run out real quick to Barnes and Noble and pick up Corky Bell's book "Maximum Boost." Definitely one of the best books out there on this subject and it'll help you out a bunch.

I have a couple of turbos off of an '88 T-Bird that I'm looking to fit on my '88 TA's 385CID here next summer. The engine should get me into low 12's NA, so I'm hoping for a "wicked street combo" as you put it, to get me in the low 11's, high 10's. Find yourself two good turbo's off of '88 manual trannie T-Birds (cause they're cheap and plentiful) which'll get you to about 600HP. Get a spare block and heads setup in your garage to fab stuff up on. Your TES's won't work, you'll be looking at custom stuff or heavily modded stuff. Consider how you're going to fuel it - you may be looking at burning your own chips or going to an addon computer like the Haltech. Go here: http://www.egroups.com/group/jyturbo or http://www.egroups.com/group/turbo and check out all of those messages, they'll help you realize the stuff you're looking at.

By the way, I'm moving out to Colorado Springs around the 10th, maybe we can get together and shoot the breeze sometime. Any third-gen clubs out there?

Anything else just email me,
Darth Steve

I've got a copy of "Turbochargers" by Hugh Maclnnes but have yet to find of copy of maximum boost... guess I'll have to break down and order one. Can you give me the ISBN.

As far as fueling, I have everything I need to do my own chips (have yet to actually burn one though) so with some help from the guys on the prom board this should be do-able.

No thirdgen clubs in town that I've found. Lots of car guys... mostly fox mustang and 4th gen f-body. Not huge ammounts of competition up here. The fastest car at the track last time I went ran a 9.99 (the pueblo track is about 4500 feet) it was a full off race car. Most of the hot street cars are in the 13-14 range up here... not many in the 12's.
