rebuilding L-98 for vortech install (compression?)

I want to rebuild my L-98 and install a vortech. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions what I should run for compression or if I should just leave it stock? I would also like to know if I use after market heads what type should I use (AFR's?) or what? Thanks guys.

Ok, I know these posts are almost 2 years old but I did a search and this thread came up. I bought a new 3rd gen yesterday, and I am looking for some advice on rebuilding a L98 for a Vortech S-trim supercharger application.

The car is a 1991 Z28 hardtop with no rust (yay!). The L98 already has the supercharger installed but the motor has 110,000 miles and definately needs to be refreshed. I can tell the rings are going so I know the top end will have to come off. The previous owner spent alot of money on the car but it dosnt look like he made a plan or anything as far as the engine combo.... It looks like he put the S-trim on a completely stock L98 and didnt do anything else besides a MSD ignition box and some unknown horrible sounding exhaust. The ECU chip is still stock.

So I know it will need a rebuild and as long as I'm doing it, I might as well get a plan together and get some parts that will compliment the supercharger. I dont want to get insane HP/TQ numbers or anything, I just want to get the full potential from a Vortech S-trim on a L98 running 9 pounds of boost. Most of all I want the setup to be reliable. I wont be racing this at the tracks ever. This will be a daily driven car with an occasional street race.

I have a $2000 budget and a set of headers. Where would you start?

Thanks Guys!!!
