I have played around with these and they can be fun.. I once wasted an entire bottle of nitrous in one night while cruising "the strip" and purging it.. We had a really good time going down the road at 45 mph and purging.. it looks like a wind tunnel test and you can see the gas streaming down the rear hatch glass.
As for racing.. if someone purged next to me on the street, I changed my style of launch for that race... You want to get them nervous by getting a really good launch in hopes they'll gas too early and start spinning. On the street this kind of launch risks putting you into the spinning situation.. sometimes spinning helps because they hear your tires.. whatever it takes to get them in the gas too soon. On the other hand, if they don't purge, I might assume they don't have nitrous and launch easier.. then then gas me and I've lost. Tough game!

This is my favorite red light game...lol. Yes a perg is a good thing for a nitrous system. It clears the air out of the lines so when you hit it you get an instant charge of nitrous right off the bat.... BUT, if I see a race comming at the "next red light" I will put the car in neutral and cost to the light and purge the nitrous through the motor before I get next to "the victem". Put it this way if they don't know that you have the bottle they are not expecting you to use it. 9 times out of 10 if someone is trying to race a third gen car driving down the road it is because they think it is slow (considering that most third gen cars driving around would have a hard time runing better then a 15 which puts it in Honda territory) this fact works to your advantage here. They are "picking on you" because they can not hang with the fast cars and figure you are an easy target. That is when you get them by suprise and leave them sitting at the light looking stupid and humiliated... gotta love it!!!
The purge can be an intimidating thing as well as helpful I run 3 stages of NOS and There is a lot of air to get out of 2 #6 lines and smaller plumbing around the motor. If you don't have the big of system you probably don't need a purge, but they are fun to play with!
