safe?

I am thinking of trying to install a nitrous setup on my l98, i was wondering if this is a good idea. i plan on running a 100-150 shot through the stock tpi setup. the engine has around 125, 000, and is pretty strong, so is the tranny. if i run this mainly at the track, is it going to tear up my motor or trans?

That makes my brain ache just trying to read it.

To answer your question; yes a 100-150 shot can be done safely on a stock engine, as long as it is done properly. A 50 HP shot done wrong can destroy an engine, so doing it the right way is paramount.

After you install the kit, get the car on a dyno with a wideband, or install an in car wideband. Start small, 75 HP or so, and monitor the A/F ratio. Anything leaner than 13.0:1 is starting to ask for trouble. If the stock fuel pump will supply the fuel to keep the AF ratio below 13:1 at the 125 HP level, and you want to go with a bigger shot, it's probably time to install 1 range colder spark plugs, and pull a couple degree's of timing. If all is well at the 150 HP level, and you still want more, you've reached what most consider to be the limit of the stock internals, namely the pistons.

Good luck, do your research, and let us know what you decide to do!
