Well the best info I can give you guys is this.
4 1/2 years ago when I bought my car I saw that Summit carried Paxton superchargers for both TBI trucks, and TBI F-Bodies, so I decided to save up for one. A year and a half later I had the money, but I noticed Summit no longer had the kits in their catalog, so I called them and they told me that they stopped stocking them because nobody was buying them, and they suggested that I call Paxton directly. When I did, they told me that they stopped making the kits because it wasn't cost efficient (i.e. nobody was buying them). I asked If they could make a kit for me, and the guy asked me if I wanted to buy one right now, and I said yes (I assume he was making sure I was serious). So he gave me a part number to give to Summit so I could order it through them because it was cheaper that way. I did, Summit took my order, and my $2,450, and in about a month I almost tackled the UPS man when I saw him pull up to my house with that box!
I installed it in my driveway in about a week, and went to the track to see how much I improved my times from a best stock time of 16.3 @ 83 w/a 2.44 60'(only mod was a catback). Well I ran a best of 15.7 @ 90 w/a 2.45 60'. Not bad but I was quite dissapointed, I wanted 14's!!!
So now after about a year of actually learning something about tuning and racing, I'm finally in the 14's, 14.42 @ 96 w/a 1.98 60' to be exact. But I had to get headers, high flow cat, posi, 3.42's, Nitto Drag Radials, and some timing adjustments. But my engine and trans are still 100% stock, but not for long.
I've had a lot of people ask me about my S/C, I told them what I did, and when they tried they all got the same response, "we don't make that kit anymore, sorry".
So you have the info, and the results, all I can say is, good luck and have fun
Later,
Mike
