Procharger D1 verses 406 and AFR heads
I am looking into purchasing a D1-SC kit from ATI for my 1991 Firebird L98. I am trying to stay away from DFI for this year and am wondering if I will have more luck using my 4000 dollars for a naturally aspirated motor combination such as a mini rammed AFR headed 406?? (I already have a completely rebuilt short block 406) Will I have headaches with tunability issues not using DFI???? Look at my sig for my combination. I would appreciate any suggestions.

well if you want a N/A motor and you plan on using the 406, go with a Accel pro-ram intake. it looks like a carburated intake, but converted to fuel injection. for the N/A 406 i would go with 11:1 compression, some good flowing AFR heads and a good size header and mufflex exhaust. Also, you will have to sping the motor to around 6000rpm to make any real power which means a healthy cam. if the tune is good and the heads flow well you will be looking at high 11s
For a daily driver...i would do that. Blowers are fun...but are tedious and you always have to watch them. N/A motors are a little easier. Anything in the low 11s or better i would suggest a DFI for the best tune, but a good chip burner will work too. if i were you, go N/A
