ok guys most peeple tell me i am crazy for this but what the hell. gotta be alittle crazy to go hella fast
OK
anyone used scat small or big block stroker cranks? 350/454. just wonderin how the quality was and how reliable. heres what i wanna do tell me what ya think any ideas are welcome.
ok for my 97 s10:
350 block scat 383 crank 6" rods, forged pistons yadda yadda
edelbrock performer alum heads with some kinda tpi setup with a ati procharger approx 18 psi boost(capable of)
with like a th350 or th400.
does anyone offer somethin to run a 4l60e with non trans puter controlled ecm?

ok for my 91 s10:
454 block stroker crank heads, intake prob a barry grant speed demon
forged pistons yadda yadda
and of course a big *** shot of juice.
the 91 will be mini tubbed to run 26x11.50 slicks and may be street driven.
with a th400 and a *gasp* 9" ford.
any comments, ideas are welcome. i am mechanically inclined and want some feed back on the tpi setup and gettin the most streetable hp outa the 97 and not worried bout the 91

"Some kinda TPI" might be money and HP ahead by being changed to "some kinda MiniRam."

I love going fast with stuff that isn't supposed to go fast but upgrading the TPI seems to be just about as expensive (and not as effective) as going with the RIGHT intake from the start. I wouldn't use the TPI's long runners for anything but a relatively mild street machine running low RPMs. 18 PSI boost sounds like you're planning more than a mild street machine.

Used ONE scat crank for a friend's 350. It didn't blow up. It DID turn 7700 RPM. I pronounced it "good enough." I tend to favor parts that don't blow up, usually. He was a worry wart. I would have used a stock cast crank and never looked back but he was all into forged aftermarket cranks so he picked one out of a catalog. I am pretty sure that was it. Anyways, scat is a brand name company with good products- I have used stuff a LOT cheaper that theirs and STILL never broken it. I'm sure it will work fine.
