I am in the process of modifying an 84Z28 it has a 305HO which is weak to say the least. I think the only way to get decent power is supercharging this motor but I can't find a company that sells one that will work with my carbed engine and fit.

Accessible Technologies (a.k.a. ATI) makes blower kits for carbed cars. Check them out. Also if youre gonna supercharge this thing, you might want to consider a complete engine check such as compression test, leak down check, etc.

Then again, how many miles are on this engine? If its a lot then you might want to REBUILD it. If youre gonna rebuild, then look at a 350. Youll be glad you did.

Try http://www.procharger.com/

Just alittle advise though, it is very challenging to keep a carbed engine in tune with a supercharger, it's much easier with fuel injection, allowing the computer to compensate for the changes in the weather, unless you go with a roots style blower.

Do a search here on supercharging, there is alot of interesting post about this very subject

Maybe the Eaton Wipple charger might work because it goes on top of the intake manifold. A friend had a 471 blower on his small block 327 chevy truck. It might be cheaper this why also.

does the super charger need to be made for carbed cars? would a TPI s.c. work with some custom induction work if the air cleaner could be made air tight? sounds kind of wacky,I know...

You could do that but ATI Prochargers make a "hat" that goes on top of the carb. You can buy it seperately or it comes it there universal small block chevy kit.
Information on their carburetor supercharger kits is on this page: http://www.procharger.com/chevy.html

Call them and see if their universal small block chevy kit will work.

gentlemen, I just asked about this today at performance unlimited in Norfolk,VA. the guy at the counter (I didn't get his name) mentioned that paxton makes such a unit for $3800 dollars .....ouch!!!! it's been done for years, the shelby cobra had a supercharged carb engine. I'd like a 5.7 TPI please, is anyone interested in a 305 HO (L69) complete engine,2500 miles on remanufactured longblock??? ...I know this is what the clasifieds are for..sorry

Hmmm...
I never have seen a cobra with one, but there was a Paxton supercharged GT-350. And of course the T-birds, Studes, Packards & such.
Any way it is more than possible and has been around for decades. Paxton & Procharger have kits for it as wel as Vortechs new ones.
