Supercharged 305 or buy a 350 crate?

I have a LG4 305 in my Corvette right now and was wondering what you all would suggest. Supercharge the LG4 or spend some big bucks on a new crate engine? The LG4 has 8.5:1 compression, correct? It should respond well to NOS or supercharging with that low of a CR. Just wondering what everyones opinion would be.

I've had great success with my supercharged 305. One of the best things I enjoy most about my decision to go this route is being able to say to others at the track, "It's only a 305."

I also recognize that I'm in the minority -- that almost everyone else will go with a 350. It's actually cheaper in the long run. So your decision should be based upon what YOU want.

If you're keeping the 305, make a 335 stroker. Not only will that be a torquey street engine, but you can still say it's a 305, plus I've seen balanced stroker kits for like $800 complete. Not much top-end, though. Make sure you dont detonate with cast pistons (or hyperutectics, for that matter). 1 or 2 degrees additional retard is better than a crumbled shortblock. If you get a 350 crate, get the ZZ4...best bang-for-the-buck crate engine. Just pop in your cam choice.

TPI then zz4 is best bang for buck. If TBI or carb I have to say vortec 350ho engine is best bang for buck (vortec heads flow better above 3000rpm than the vette heads).
I really wish GM would have come out with a zz4 bottom end (better pistons and roller cam) and vortec heads. That would be a great combo if they had the right pistons for lower compression ratio.
