What is a good size for a water to air aftercooler core?
What is a good size for a water to air aftercooler core?
I'm thinking of using one instead of an air to air intercooler. But, I have no idea what size to look for. It's a twin turboed 350 that will probably never see more than 10psi of boost. What size core would be sufficient both for cooling, and for flow?

Jester,
check out the one for the LS1 that Vortech has. it is rather small (15" long, 9" wide & 7" deep). a budy of mine has one on his LS1 TA & he is putting down 475 hp, to the ground, +125 NOS, do the math). I guess the point i am trying to make is that it does not have to be very big @ all to transfer a heat. the goal is heat transfer. the colder the water is to start with the more heat you are going to transfer out of your air.
I have been considering this for some time & think that the larest size you can fit in the space you have available is the best size. make the water VERY cold & you are there. onehttp://www.unlimited-racing.com/new_index.htm goto the dutwieler section & check out the one on that red car (probe i think, but not sure) that thing is mondo big, but they are making mondo power (1500 hp mondo).
