how much nos?

ok well i have decided to do my 406 with a totally modified TPI set-up. its going to be around 10:1-10.2:1 comp. how much nos can i run without killing the engine? from what i know now. the guy(s) that are building my engine said they should have it around 460 hp easy. i was thinking either a 50 or 75 shot of nos, how much do u think i shoudl use. the car will be a daily driver, just with ****ty gas milage, and im not going to be using the nos every day.

Hey man, I don't know how true this is, but the lower your compression ratio, the better with N2O. Someone else back me up or correct me?

As far as I know compression doesn't really matter. I've sprayed on 9 to 1 motors, and 11 to 1 motors. No real difference.

Az- What went into your motor? Crank forged or cast? Pistons forged, cast, or hyperpathetic? If the pistons are cast, 100 shot is as high as I'd recommend. Hypers, say 150 shot. If forged you can go much higher, but then you have to worry about the crank or rods. If they are cast and the pistons are forged, 250 shot, max.

A good kit would be the NOS Cheater kit. Adjustable from 75 to 250 hp. Gives you lots of headroom once you get used to it. Get a fuel pressure safety switch, and a throttle position microswitch. They'll keep the motor alive. Get the timing right. Detonation is a motor killer on N2O. Make sure you're not running too much advance. I normally run 12 degrees initial with a 175 shot, but I tend to push things. You might want to drop it to 10. Enjoy...
