Manual boost controller... which one?
I haven't been posting in quite a while, been wintertime, but I got my TT firebird out, and I'm wanting to raise the boost!
I remember reading a while back a review on quite a few different types of MBC's, and this particular review stated which MBC helped get to full boost the quickest over stock. Which was anywhere between 200-700 rpm, quite a big difference.
Anyone have any recommendations on a cheaper type MBC, either needle design, or ball-bearing/spring, that they have found to be useful?

$50 for a couple of nipples, a spring and a check ball… NICE!
Go to the hardware store, get the nipples there, and if you want a bolt to make the t shaped deal, go back to your garage, sweep up the floor and you’ll find the spring and the ball bearing in the trash when you do that (if you have a well used garage you’ll probably find the bolt and brass fittings there also), assemble it, then take the $48 that you have left over and go to your nearest titty bar and check out all the nipples you want…

I was actually referring to the $45 one, not that it makes much difference. It was on sale for $30 a few years ago when I bought it for my Talon. I've since upgraded to an expensive fancy-shmancy Profec-B "Type S", but it's definitely a lot nicer to have than the MBC for a few reasons.
I've seen plenty of people, time and time again, make their own ball/spring or check valve MBC's, and they're almost always very inconsistent at holding boost, and break after a year or so. I've also seen a whole lot of people with that MBC, no problems. It is consistent and reliable. Maybe the homemade MBC people just don't know what they were doing, but I suspect it takes more than $2 parts (or at least having some exact tolerences measured and drilled or machined) to have something like that work properly, but I could be wrong. It might be better for some people just to spend $45 on someone else's research that they know works and be done with it (I'm one to DIY, but in some cases the other way is better).
