75 - 125 nitrous shot gains??
75 - 125 nitrous shot gains??
What kind of 1/4 mile gains can I expect with a 75 and 125 shot of nos. I'm already hitting high 13s, but my car is a daily driver and I want to make sure it would be worth the trouble and the risk. Internally it's stock.

"Why StockBastard?" you might ask. Well...
84 Berlinetta body w/custom paint.
92 front/rear bumper and ground affects.
89 IROC 350tpi engine w/lots of mods.
87 3.73 possi rear w/disk brakes.
86 interior w/IROC dash.
And finally, stock Vet rims from the early 70s.(same ones used on the 69ss)
ALL IN ONE CAR!!!

I have the NOS Powershot system (125 hp) ready to bolt onto my car.
While it highly depends on your setup... NOS has some examples of 1/4 mile gains for the 125 HP shot -
65 GTO, Before 14.01, After 12.70
77 Chevy Truck, Before 15.06, After 14.13
83 Mustang, Before 15.45, After 14.02
I would expect pretty decent gains with the 125 shot... a 75 would obviously yield lesser results but would be much more motor friendly.

that sounds reasonable. i'm going to get a sound tune up before i squirt. any advice on what to check before you install NOS?

Check your mixture. Make sure you're not running lean. Replace the plugs, especially if they're platinum. N2O and platimnum plugs don't get along. Get at least one step colder plug. Check your timing. I usually pull 1 degree of advance out for every 50 hp of the shot. Some people might say more, but that's worked for me. Use your head, and don't get greedy, and you'll be fine.
NOS suggest 1.5 degrees of retard for every 50 hp of juice. I take out 2 degrees per 50, cause I run pump gas. I would rather be safe than sorry.

yeah, winnings got the idea, 1.5-2 is a good amount of retard per 50 shot, the best thing to do is get an adjustable ignition timing so you dont have to keep going under the hood, you can just adjust it by the ease of turning a ***. as far as checking the car out, EVERY ignition component, cap rotor, wires, plugs, mixture of course, and then make sure youve got plenty of fuel pressure and your pump functions like it should. youll really enjoy your nitrous and good luck.

I raced with nitrous last night for the first time, my car is an 87 IROC 305 TPI auto. I used a 75(?) shot, 46N and 26F.
Before 14.67 secs @ 93 MPH
After 13.62 secs @ 102 MPH

So I gained 1.05 secs and 9 MPH with the above setup.
