Total Cost?
Total Cost?
I decided not to go with my engine swap, but to get a s/c of some sort. I've heard that you have to get a new hood with a turbo and a super, but not with a procharger.
So lets say I go with the procharger(chevy universal sb, so it'll work with my next engine too) What will my total cost be? This includes installation.
Also, what will I gain from it? I got beat by a truck the other day, and I am about ready to kill myself. Will I still lose to trucks?
Thanks all
Dave

Most likely you will still loose. The added hp from the supercharger will just burn off the right tire since your RS only has an open differential. I too have lost to pickups. I am attacking the power from the other end. Look at my signature. The Oem Zexel posi and 3.42 gears help launch tremendously. The TBI mods which if you look at the Ultimate TBI mods located on this board is a must to do. Once you get air in you must get it out. Our TBI exhaust is WORTHLESS. Order headers, cat and exhaust for a TPI car so you can get 3" exhaust to get the air out of the engine. This made a HUGE difference in my car without destroying gas mileage and now I can beat those same trucks. Not by as much as I would like but those mods will work really well with a $2000 330hp Chevy new crate vortec 350. So my mods + new engine will be cheaper than a new supercharger and will run VERY fast. Plus I can always ad the supercharger to it (a modest 6-8psi). A supercharger on a L03 might get you into the neighborhood of 250hp.

Very nice, I am already planning to do the rearend swap with some 3.42 and a posi, and you say that the procharger will cost more than a new engine? That doesn't make any sense at all, considering he GM crate makes 330 hp. It is a hell of a deal, and I'm probably still going to go with that, but I don't want to throw away the 305 while it still works. With my luck, the 350 would explode the day I got it.
Do you have any ideas as to where I should buy the rear end? Can you tell me all the parts I would need to get it? Thanks man
