How old was the engine? Stock or modified? What was the cause?(poor installation, fuel pump quit on you etc...)
thanks alot
im gonna be installing my nitrous soon and i want to avoid these problems

I havent blown my engine but l figured l could give you a hand anyway. the best way to avoid nitrous explosions is simple. don't get greedy. most of the explosions l've seen is because somebody thinks their chevy LT1 350 can handle a 300 HP nitrous shot. getting more on the technical side. make sure your fuel delivery is up to par. it's key to have a fuel pressure gague. check it often when youre running nitrous. after that the spark delivery. make sure youve got good plugs. (I use stock AC delco) l don't beleive in miracle plugs and don't need the fancy stuff. make sure youve got good wires, and a fresh cap and rotor. It's essential both of those are up to par. they don't nessecarely have to be modified but they DO need to be working correctly. guages are the second most important part. fuel and nitrous pressure. thats basically self explanitory. NOS makes a nitrous shut off switch if the fuel pressure drops below the optimal operating level. there are all sorts of ways to stay safe, and as far as im concerned nitrous injection is just as safe as a supercharger. its just because nitrous is so easy to get carried away with.
good luck on the installation, and most of all have fun

Well, i bought the NOS kit #05151. Its adjustable from 75-125 hp. I als have frged pistons and the whole engine has ARP bolts. My compression is about 9.5:1 and I have a new MSD cap, rotor, coil, and superconductor wires. I am about to get ome new AC delco plugs and put them in. I just wanted some words of wisdom from u guys. So, i guess i should be fine with my setup. thanks alot

The key to a NOS'd motor is fuel, fuel, fuel and then timing. NOS creates heat and the added fuel keeps it from getting out of hand. Lose the fuel, lose the motor. You need a good fuel pump and a hobbs switch to make sure you have enough fuel pressure. Take out 2 degrees of timing for every 50hp of NOS and check you plugs after each of the first few tests.

Cobra, the 5151 kit should be 125/150HP adjustable, but you can buy any jets (not exceeding 150, maybe 175)to do whatever power shot you want.
