Callaway cars?
Callaway cars?
What kind of turbo's are on the twin turbo corvettes? Did these cars use L98's? How much HP did they have? Just curious. Maybe I have an idea and maybe I will give someone else one.

Car: 1991 Camaro RS
Engine: L03 305 V-8 (for now ;) )
Transmission: T-5 5 speed
Axle/Gears: stock... whatever that means :)
Im not sure what turbos they had on them, but they did use L98 engines. I think the top HP they made was close to 400 HP (last year of production).

I was there and looking at the for sale cars that is why I thought it was a L98. Would have been neat for them to build turbo camaros or Turbo GTA's.

according to a mag of mine from 1991 that just started to fall apart in my hand: 403HP@4500RPM, 575TQ@3000
0-60: 4.4 sec
for an extra $6000 there was a 450HP version with 613TQ at the same RPMs
oh sweet. a 454 C-4 labled the ZR2 is in here too

Was the zr2 a test car that never got made? I never heard of it, but until a couple of years ago I never heard of a zr1 now I know a little about it. Would those turbo's and exhaust manifolds bolt onto a 305? Or would the entire engine swap be more worth while?

the zr2 is a 4 wheel drive s-10 right. I don't know if i would want all that power in a pickup.

A rule of thumb good to go by. Turbo systems are designed for cars, not for motors.

hey guys, the 88 callaway sledgehammer vette ran a twin turbo forged internal and i believe 383 cid L98 based engine that produced 880 HP @6250 RPM, capable of 3.9 sec 0-60, and the amazing top speed of 254.7mph, with a then experimental, and no less impressive 6 spd. at the etime they approximated 400 grand to duplicate it, but figure on about half to a quarteer tat for parts and installation, unless you know what youre doing, for an f body. and id assume that with a deeper gear itd run the quarter a lot faster. my dream car though...
