will my engine take a 150 shot or more?

i just put in a used 350, it seems to have a cam a step or two above stock, single plane high rise weiland, 750 vac secondary, HEI.

i was wondering what tests and other things i should check before installing nitrous and how much i could run.

thanks

You said that it was a used engine so I will assume it has a stock bottom end. I'm not gonna tell ya that it want live spraying a 150 HP shot on it, I just don't think it would live for very long. I would say stay at or below 120HP shot to be safe, take out a couple degrees of timing and make sure your fuel and ignition systems are in good working order. You also may want to do a compression check on the engine since it is used before ya start spraying it.

i wish i could remember right now how to identify a steel crank. i read somewhere that you can tell by a casting mark. it comes to a point or edge and one comes to a flat ridge, but i cant remember which.

i have the oil pan off right and im gonna look and see if i can tell which that it has. took the pan off cause oil pressure wasnt as high as id like so im really really hoping a new high volume pump will help that.

Cast cranks have a broad parting line that you could see on the rod throws, cast cranks have a very small line. If they are ground down though, it's tough to tell.

Should that be forged cranks?
