Some conversion work needs to be done.

I also started with a 305 TPI 87 iroc. I new that the v-belt configurations wouldn't work. So I had to make some investments. I had to purchase a new Waterpump, Smog-Pump, Alternator, Idler Pulley, A/C compressor and A/C lines, a Serpentine Belt, and mounting brackets for everything. I bought almost everything at Advance Auto Parts several Years ago and didn't keep the receipts, but when you go to the store for the swap, Just tell them it is for a 91 Z28 Camaro. Worked Great for me.

I ended with the the Vortech Package. I am still in the process of tuning the ECM and am currently hitting a few other small tuning issues. I had to eliminate the MAF system and go S/D.

Why did you need to go to speed density? Did you have to replace the entire engine harness?

Supercharger Speed Density ~VS~ MAF

The Choice to switch to S/D was a easy one for me. As I am in the process of converting the engine to major modifications that MAF can't handle. You can use the existing Wiring harness but you have to repin the new 730 ECM and memcal. You also have to add a MAP sensor which can use the MAF wires from the 165 ECM. Mass air flow systems are great if you want to make minor engine modications to the engine. I have personally found that a 730 ECM with a AUJP eprom is even easier to modify especially for adding the fuel for a Supercharger application. I have the repinning charts and almost all the information if you are considering this.

In short... You don't have to switch to speed density, though it's not a bad idea.
You do have to swap over to the newer serpentine belt setup, that's why they're not listed for '87 and older.

Supercharger Serpentine system

Yes he is 100% correct. I have the vortech and I had to do a full serpentine conversion to run it. Which consists of New A/C pump, Air Pump, Alt, Water Pump, You have to add an idler pulley.

I have to have the air pump on my car because of NY state emissions. It doesn't have to work properly, just be there just like Catalytic Convertors.

This can be accomplished faily cheap if you get all the brackets from a junkyard and go new like Advance, Autozone, and automotive store. Don't go dealer for these parts unless you have tons of money to throw away. I think to switch to serpentine system, The conversion total price was around $600 but that was dealer brackets and idler puller and the rest Advance.

I thought at 1 time Paxton made a S/C for the 87 TPI with v-belts but I can't find the info on it any more.
