Turbo Drama...

Ok a couple days ago I took the car to the local drag strip. I put 3 passes on the car which were all a dissapointment. Before the car would jump to 7psi and build boost strong and steady to 15 psi. when I made my passes it didnt build but 7psi and it took half the track to build that and got 3 consecutive 13.6's @ 104, 104, 105. The car was not pulling near it's potential which I have seen on the street prior to taking it to the track.

So I screwed with the car today and came up with a couple things

1st I have a definite miss. which seems to be on the right bank(TURBO HEADER SIDE) which is a complete PITA to swap the wires and plugs on that side. I have to pull off pretty much everything to replace them. This will make the 3rd set of wires on this.

2nd I tightened up the wastegate but it is still struggling to pull boost, which I think points back to a dead cylinder, it did this same thing the last time the plug wires went bad.

I also completely disconnected my meth to eliminate that possibility.(gunners idea, which was a good one)

So if I am correct on this then my 13.6 passes was with a dead cylinder and a struggle to build boost. At this point I am very optimistic on getting a decent 12 on street tires. I am however probly not going to have time to fix it this coming week until Friday on my day off. So as of now I will not be able to take it back to the track for 2 weeks.....

Do you have any thoughts on this? Does a dead cylinder normally have such an effect on building boost?

The last time I had a miss I had issues with boost but the wires on the car probly only have 300 miles on them so I just counted that problem out...until I had it running at the house and noticed it was running a lil rough and I could hear it pop thru the cutout a bit. so I started pulling plug wires off and all but 1 plug wire changes the Idle, meaning that the cylinder is dead.

The heat generated by the turbo and the headers isnt exactly good for plug wires. Get some heatwrap and wrap those wires up.
