nitrous question

I am in Chicago & it is about 40* outside - i have a full bottle unheated - the pressure is about 800lbs. i bog big time when activated. Am i jetted to rich or is it the temp outside or the pressure of the nos? i am running a zex wet kit on a 350 using a 100 shot

If it bogs when activated, no matter from a roll or dig, you may be a lil rich. FYI, Nitrous companies jet their kits a lil on the rich side so its safer. Take the FUEL jet down 1-2 notches (EX. .032 to a .030). Itll run a lil leaner but not TOO lean.

BTW, Im no fan of Zex kits. they dont hit worht a ****. Id suggest selling this kit and snagging an NX kit. they hit HARD....like 100HP jetitngs give 110-125 RWHP gains...yes REAR WHEEL HORSEPOWER!!!

so with the pressure being low (under 800 psi), because of cold temps. Should i be able to spray using the same jets as when it is 80* outside at 1600psi?

Yes. Air temperature is a factor BUT it wont affect your hit nearly as much as the Bottle pressure.

you take that bottle to 1600psi and watch it pop lol. seriously, me and my buddies torch them up to 1200psi, open the line, it drops to like 1100psi and when we launch, it hards hard as hell and by the end of the 1/8th, its at like 900psi. Heat it back up to 1100-1200 psi, next pass.

Granted most people iwll tell you not to use torches but They work, simple as that. just keep the flame away from it and keep the torch moving around.....been heaitng bottlesl iek that myself for well over a year and know tons of people who d that with their bottles.

You can heat the bottle with a torch, weaken a spot in the bottle and risk blowing the burst disc off, plus making your bottle look like total crap, or you can just take it inside and run hot water over it in your bath tub then wrap it in a towel. Using a torch to warm your bottle is a completely BAD idea and I'm not even that cautious of a racer, yeah it "works" but sulfuric acid will clean stains off of a shirt if you get what I'm saying. As for the urban legend that NX kits "hit harder" that's complete crap as well. If you want a kit to hit harder use shorter lines from the solenoids to the nozzle but hitting harder isn't even a good thing, that's a nice way to tear up your motor, drivetrain, shock your tires, and spin. Stick with your ZEX kit and lean it down some, or up your nitrous jet a bit. And please don't EVER heat your bottle with a torch, the bottle only needs to be at 90 degrees to be at optimal pressure, if you're out and need it re heated just stick it in the floorboard and blow the heater over it for a few minutes.

I am cheap and use this for a bottle heater. I bought a heating pad($15) and a ac/dc convertor($40 or less) Turn the heating pad on high and keep it on.

I have a ZEX bottle heater, and a custom made blanket but alot of people don't and for the casual nitrous user it's not necassary. The AC DC converter trick on a heating pad is a great one, I actually considered doing that before I broke down and just bought the heater. I was also looking for companies that sell the DC heating elements that I could fasten some velcro to or build into my bottle brackets, but patience wore thin and I just spent the cash.
