external wastegate

i have my exteranl gate right infront of the turbo inlet.nwo i dont have it plumbed back into the ex system, nor do i have a dump tube on it,
so far its worked great except for the ex fumes that get into the car,i never noticed them in the summer cause i always had my windows down, but now that its cold and the windows are up i can smell it.

since i have to make some changes to the gate now i was wondering if it is better to plumb it back so it dumps into the downpipe,or is it better to just run an open dump pipe directed out from under the car so the fumes dont come inside the car

I have my wastegate outlet just open, like yours too. My wastegate is under the car so i dont really get too many fumes in the car, but i was thinking about plumbing it back into the exhaust system too. But i was thinking that with it dumping out into the atmosphere, there is more room in the exhaust system for the exhaust coming out of the turbo. So i might just run a small pipe right next to my regular exhaust with some kind of small straight through muffler, because its really loud when the wastegate opens. But it might be a waste.

Sometimes routing it back in causes boost creep, but not usually. It depends on the WG size and amount of exhaust restriction. My Talon's external dumps back in, no problems.

Route it well out of the engine bay if you're getting fumes, and if you're keeping it dumped. It's usually a little bit louder at WOT than routing it back in, too. Also, it's technically illegal (but lots of things are).

thnx guys,im prolly gonna leave it dumped, ill just add a dump pipe to direct the ex out from under the car.Prolly just have it exit infront of the passenger side tire.its really not that loud,to be honest u really cant hear it inside the car over the ex system

You mean you can’t provide an exhaust leak to bypass emissions devices? Really?
