the 142/144 is supposed to be able to go under a 4" cowl...

What motor is it going on?

If its the 305 the 142/144 is definately enough cfm for that!

To estimate your boost:

25.58 x A x B | C = XXX - 14.7 = boost

A=blower displacement
B=blower drive ratio
C=engine displacement (ci)

So in this case 25.58 x 144 x 1.95 | 305 = 23.55 - 14.7 = 8.85psi boost

More than enough for a little 305!

A mild 350 with a 144 shouldnt have a problem with 500 @ the fly

I use the Weiand 142 on my 383 with good heads and a small blower cam. It's making 390 at the rear wheels through an automatic trans using the next-to-highest pulley set available (showing 5PSI boost in the intake). So that's somewhere in the 470HP neighborhood at the flywheel, depending on whose conversion factor you believe. It'll make about as much power on a 350, but the boost would be higher. 500HP seems to be about the lid for the little 142/144 blowers. But you gotta remember that HP happens in a very streetable RPM range with more torque under the curve than any 500HP N/A 350 could ever dream of making.

The larger 177 blower would have greater power potential but it sits the carb about 2" higher. That would be marginal for hood clearance with a 6" cowl hood.

Hey Damon, did you install the emissions version of this blower? I'm curious to see how the EGR system can be kept intact. I'd love to get a 142, but would like to be able to pass the sniffer test.
