Any single turbo guys retain their A/C?

I would be interested in seeing one using the factory A/C setup, or even one using an aftermarket system, custom evaporator housing, or otherwise. TPI383 posted up a setup that was for sale that was built around a serpentine A/C setup, but I saw no pictures showing downpipe clearance, which is the main thing I'm curious about.

I wonder if it'd be possible to mount the turbo low and run a downpipe between the engine block and frame rail, then around the starter. Would a tubular k-member give the extra clearance needed to run the downpipe in this area? It seems that the lower down you put things, the less you'd have to worry about A/C box/drier clearance concerns. Just thinking out loud. I've seen a couple guys running downpipes under the k-member but there's no way that would give enough ground clearance for me.

In the end A/C might not be that big of a priority but regardless I'd really love to see if anyone has been successful running it in an application like this.

I'm keeping my A/C (live in FL!) but that does you no good cause the 60degree serpentine belt places the compressor on the other side. If you do some searching using turbo as a key word, I've seen lots of pics on here with single and twin set-ups that retained the A/C and all of it's components.

It was more of a hypothetical question, and anyway if need be brackets can be swapped. I've searched and searched and looked at hundreds of pictures but have yet to see a single turbo setup using the factory A/C system with downpipe routing that didn't go under the k-member. 4thgens seem to have no problem running a turbo on the driver's side while keeping all accessories but I don't think that option is viable on a 3rdgen.

What size down pipe are you talking?! If you mount the turbo in a typical fashion, the down pipe will fit between the k-member and firewall. Again though, I'm using a 60degree V6 so my clearances are a little different, but give me a minute and I'll dig up a pic real quick...

Even though it's twins, the passenger side turbo is where you would want to mount yours and have a crossover pipe in place of the y-pipe.In the power adder forum,

In that pic the drier is missing and it doesn't appear that there is any room for it. That also leaves minimal room for a downpipe.

Here are some without a AC box in at the time. Im sure you could make it fit no problem.

Thats a 3inch pipe. im sure with a little work you could get it to fit no problem.

Although I didnt want to, I am going to mount mine forward in the battery trays and probably route the downpipe low.

Nice job on the x-over pipe welds! Looks like stainless.

I wish my mild steel welds looked that good!
.
EDIT: You're positioning the downpipe without a j-bend - in other words, the turbo inlet/outlet are 90* apart and aren't you going to have to fit a j-bend in there also?
