I think my car has an upgraded Cam.. Help
So I found my new camaro on a myspace add and i couldnt pass it up.
89 iroc 350 tpi, 700r4 auto, borg warner rear disk brake posi.
Anyways it had an issue with a really throbby idle, and it throbs when just cruzing.
So ive been diagnossing this problem for about a month now ive looked at many things and heres what ive found
All sensors and componets are good including a brand new MAF sensor and plug.
No codes what soever...
So i went to timming and was just checking out different number and came up with at 6*btdc in drive (stock setting) the car had almost no power hardly and accseleration at all. and still boggs
Now at the 8*-12* it runs great fast as hell actually and still boggs at idle.
Now one of the preious owners had a video of him taking it down a 1/4 mile racing a stang and my car ran a 13.99
None of the pervieous owners know if it has a cam in it or not.
So i hope somone can help me out with this problem.

So it surges at idle and while cruising?
The only indication you might get from an aftermarket cam would be a choppy idle, once you get on the throttle it should smooth right out.
I'd guess you've got yourself a vacuum leak somewhere...
Do you get any detonation when you floor it or any other time?

Cruzing when rpms are low low like 1500 or less still it surges with throttle it dosent surge at all.
No vaccume leeks no even on the underside of the intake maifold...
Detonation as is like pings or backfires....
Only when the timming is set at 6*btdc whcih would be normal for a stock configuration. but it runs almost perfect with the surge still at 8 - 12* btdc
Also to mention i just replaced my ICA and ajusted Min air, and TPS and it still surges so that made no difference.
The car idles perfect in cold start mode then aftert about 6 mins when it gets warmer it drops down to normal temp idle and it throbbs
