Wow, where are you going to run the driver's side downpipe, through the fender? It looks so close in the pics. Makes me glad I only did a single. What headers are those? Also, are you planning on running an intercooler?

well i can tell you that is NOgood unless your gonna use them turbos to autoclave your brake fluid....i dont really think there is a way to maintain the brakes without the booster i would say your best bet would be to get rid of those air filters for some shorter ones move those turbos forward any way possible and a banjo fitting could be used for the exhaust in tight spaces like that as long as it is done on both sides

banjo fitting?!?! are you serious?? this is a joke right?? nevermind.. dont answer that..

well for some input.. either way, you are gonna cook the **** outta that brake fluid.. wrap it with some kind of heat wrap thing.. i would also suggest cutting the flange and tilting the turbo inwards.. that will help a little.. just make sure you weld GOOD.. dont exactly know how you are gonna run some downpiping but good luck.. hope it turns out nice..

Well, it’s hard to tell for sure from your pics, but it looks like you might be able to run your down pipe between the #7 header tube and the head.

WRT to the brakes… yea, you can convert to manual brakes, basically involves the right brake parts and an adaptor plate for the firewall or just buy a kit. Search the boards, there have been a bunch of pretty detailed manual brake conversion threads in the assorted forums.

yeah i measured between the header and the firewall and i have about 3 1/4 inches so a 3 inch downpipe should work. i have a treadstone dual 2 1/2 inch inlet 3"out intercooler.

hmm i will have to find out about the brakes cause a friend told me that you can take the brake assembly away from the firewall take out the booster and just run the master cylinder.. does anyone know if the master cylinder will bolt up without the brake booster... either way im not really worried about it right now, i still need a fuel pump and i need to find a way to mount my driver's side wastegate.. well looking forward to some more info from my fellow third geners

Is it just me, or do those turbines look giant compared to the compressors?

You might be able to squeeze in a DP, but I think you would be better off cutting the manifold and bringing that turbo forward away from the brakes some more.

here
Some of the 90s Astro vans used a hydraulic booster that was run off the power steering system, it has more clearance on the passenger side of it then a vacuum booster, and may be worth looking into. I'd grab one from the JY to get the lines master cylinder and all, then replace parts at your discression.

the headers were custom made by a guy on ebay... i can get his name for you if youd like.. i only paid 150 for the set. they are decent quality especially since they fit under the hood of a firebird

What he said... Without numbers I can't tell, but looking at the size, it seems like it'll take much longer than normal to spool, and then will choke due to the small compressors. Nice part is at very low boost, ya won't have much back pressure.

I don't know how decent $150 headers can be, but if the guy was cleaning out his garage... Hopefully they aren't SS Autochrome - If so, get ready to start repairing them now...

ss auto chrome is really that bad? i am a mechanic for a speed shop called motion concept performance and we order from ss autochrome all the time, and have never had any problems they are cheap, but i think the quality is better than decent.

Re: Turbo Project

I like your idea (turbo placement).. I was going to do the same but ended up relocating the turbos to the front and having a support bracket fabbed up that way it could hold the weight of the turbos. My friend did the work on my car..he ended up pulling my brake booster/m. cyl and replacing it with one out of a rice burner(I forget which Honda)..the thing is.. that damn thing works. Those ricers actually made something that I liked, thank you Honda. LOL.

I looked on my site and I dont have any new pics of my setup that are current..havent updated my picture gallery.. if you're interested I can show you a pic w/the new m. cylinder bolted up.

Re: Turbo Project

Post it… or start another thread and post a link. It’s one of his original questions and a common question for twin turbo people anyway.

FWIW, I can’t imagine it being much more then rigging an adaptor plate, figuring out the pushrod and then running the lines..

Re: Turbo Project

by all means keep posting good info like that! that is an awesome idea and im gonna find a rice burner to pull one out of! sorry to all the guys that hate ricers but i gotta say the twin turbo project isn't liking the stock brake master cylinder. by the way for the guys following my project.. i started the mid shift at my work a week ago and things have been goin slow as i am having a hard time finding energy to work on my car let alone the jobs that need to be done at the shop (yes my second job is being a mech at the local tuner shop). i just got an 87 tpi ecu and an engine harness. i also bought a mass air flow translator with a boost controller and a map sensor. this kit ran me about 600 dollars but for guys looking to be able to tune their cars to the max this is an excellent programmer. it is fully programmable, you can add spark, take away fuel, you can electronically set boost, controll your injector cycles, too many to name. but i will get some more pics to you guys as i hate being interested in a project where they don't post follow up pics
