It's ordered!!

Finally!!!

The ProCharger D1SC is on the way! I didn't have much luck with the THF intercoolers, so I went with the 3-core. We will see how it goes, and likely do a BeCool radiator later on. I will let you guys know how we progress and thanks to everyone who chimed in with advice! It makes it nice to have back up here on the board!!

Re: It's ordered!!

I went ahead and paid extra for a polished unit, with the intake tract polished too. I am going to need to get me intake runners and ported plenum polished too. Anybody have any suggestions? Should I try this myself?

How does your IROC hold up to your WS6? I still miss my 02' SS, but am hoping the IROC will be a little more unique?

Re: It's ordered!!

prochargers polished intake tract only includes 1 polished pipe which is the one that goes in to the throttle body, the rest is powdercoated, good luck you'll love the procharger, just make sure you dial your afr in under boost.

Do you use the FMU supplied by ATI? I think I will use that until I put the larger runners and ported plenum and a cam in. Then I will go to larger injectors and get a tune.
Before I do any of that, I will be beefing up the rest of the suspension - lca's, sfc's and likely some kind of rearend - not sure if I will go with a 12 bolt or a 9 inch. I am just hoping most of the stock drivetrain will hold up with the ProCharger for a while. I guess it should until it starts hooking up....

Do you like the Moser 12 bolt? I would rather do that than go with the 9" Ford. Just have a hard time saying Ford, much less putting their parts under my Camaro.

By the way, you have a great looking car. I have always liked your wheels, as well as the way the rest of your car is set up. Any pics of the underneath? Suspension pics would be cool and appreciated!

Hey, I found some pics of your sub frame connectors in your profile. You have done ALOT of work to that car! Great job! Who polished your TPI setup for you?

nice.. I too am comtimplating a procharger, but I'm undecided between a P1SC and a D1SC, although I was told I could always send in the P1SC at a later date and they'd swap in the D1 internals.

Brisk, you could always just use the D1SC and use a larger pulley to lower the boost, pulleys cost less than internals im willing to bet..

I am starting out with a pulley to give me 8 lbs. boost, with my engine being bone stock. I should have plenty of room to grow.....

Re: It's ordered!!

This guy does porting & polishing... sent him a TPI plenum & dist cover and some money... I purchased TPIS LTR's and TPIS Big Mouth Manifold... he ported and polished the Plenum, Polished the Dist Cover, Polished the LTR's and I had the base powdercoated (since it's mostly hidden anyway).
He portmatched the ltr's and plenum and anything you want...

http://www.robiecustoms.com/

I'm legally blind and though some people recommend porting stuff themselves, my eyes would have to be too close to flying metal to see what I was doing... In this case, pay someone who has done it...

Re: It's ordered!!

Update......

So I get home from work tonight and guess what is laying in the garage????? Yep, a big white box from ATI!!!

So somehow, I walk right by it and go in and get ready to go to my Son's school for a World Expo fair. It was cool, but I am still not sure how I left and did not open that box!!

Anyway, I get home about 8:00 and go right to the box.....open the shipping papers and it says 2-Core intercooler...... So, I think "This aint right" and I keep reading. Then I see "P1SC"!!!!

Well, needless to say I am.... uhhh.....welll....umm....distressed? So I call Exotic Performance and leave a message, as well as sending Bob an email. I know this is an honest mistake, but you know how that little voice is telling you...."Uh-oh"!!

I will keep you guys posted.....

Well, hopefully this is just an honest mistake. I actually called Bob last Friday and I got the feeling that it hadn't been ordered yet, but things happen.

My judge of them will be how they fix the mistake.....

Re: It's ordered!!

Well, I have to say that Bob at EPP was very helpful with the mix up. He has contacted ATI and they are sending me the D1SC and 3-Core intercooler to replace what they sent by mistake. He said I would also get a list of parts that they would send me that were specific to the replacement and they would pay for shipping all around. I will keep you posted how it unfolds....

I had to attach a picture of the P1SC, even though it is going back.... Very nice build quality from ProCharger, I am impressed. I am looking forward to seeing what differences there is between the D1SC and the P1SC.

No doubt. I work on Industrial turbines and centrifugal compressors and use many different impeller designs, designated by the flow we need.

I was just wondering if the casing or any of the other hardware will be different. I am curious how much larger the pulley size will be.....this P1SC is listed at 9 lbs. of boost and my D1SC is supposed to be the same.

350 C.I. - Bone stock.

4.25 pulley on the P1SC. Not sure what the D1SC will have.

hmm i'm not sure what the 4.25" pulley is rated at on a stock 350, but i'm using a 4.00" pulley on my 305 and get 11#'s, but it's modified so you may be in the range

Re: It's ordered!!

The 4.25" pulley should make approx 8 psi on a bone stock L98. The same pulley should make about 12 psi with the D1SC. You may want to talk to Bob about getting a larger pulley to slow the D1SC down.

Yeah, I think you are right. I talked with him this afternoon and he said ATI thought the 4.25 pulley would work for both the D1SC & P1SC? That doesn't make sense to me. I will call ATI on Monday, that's when I need to send the head unit and intercooler back to exchange for the D1SC.

Well, today the box left with the P1SC head unit, the 2 core intercooler, the pipe specific to the 2-core intercooler and the "un-polished" intake tract....

Let's see what shows up next week.....

Got home from out of town last night, ProCharger box was waiting......

Opened it up, found only 3-core intercooler and pipe w/ surge valve fitting. No D1SC or polished intake tract..so, another phone call and email.

Re: It's ordered!!

Well, I got home from work last night and another ProCharger box was waiting.... I opened it up and they got it right! D1SC w/ 4.75 pulley (the P1SC had a 4.25) and the polished intake tract too.... Now I just need to get the car dynoed to give me a baseline, get my gauges installed and we can go for the install!!

Re: It's ordered!!

damn that's a big pulley lol, glad you got it sorted out, yes definately get a baseline, i wish i did that but i was too excited and installed it first, again make sure your AFR is good under boost, my modified 305 didnt have enough fuel with 30#/hr injectors and the fmu, speaking of injectors would you like a set of FMS 30#/hr injectors with less than a 1000 miles on them?

Yeah, the pulley is big, I guess the price I pay for going with the D1SC with a bone stock engine. At least it will be plenty for whatever I do to the engine later on... Let's see how cool it looks with a hole in the hood for the pulley to stick out!! LOL

I will let you know about the injectors, I need to do some research on them first to see what kind to buy, etc.

The 8-rib belt. Actually, I have a call into them on this, as this is the belt they sent me originally with the P1SC, which had a 4.25" pulley. I am worried that this is not the right belt with the 4.75" pulley.

How did you come out on yours? I remember reading you were having trouble with slippage?

Re: It's ordered!!

pinky i'm running a 65" and something belt for my 4" pulley with the tensioner almost to the top, you should be okay with that, no matter what i did, the blower always had to be unmounted to get the belt on, i'm installing a automatic tensioner as soon as i get some free time, i'll take pictures, let me know about the injectors, i'd rather someone get use out of them, we can work something out.

Thanks for the heads up....

Engine is bone stock as the General built her! I hope to have decent luck making her live with 8-9 lbs. boost. In the mean time, I will build up the rear end, suspension and gather up exhaust, throttlebody, etc. I already have the AS&M runners, ported plenum, but would like to drive it with the ProCharger for a while and then dive in all the way and tune it once.

This may be a crap plan, but that's what we are starting out with.

Re: It's ordered!!

i wonder somthing, with a compression of no higher than 9.3:1 and a 3 core intercooler, at 8-9 psi i wonder if ya couldn't go just a tad more... me and sonix had a discussion when i was worried about crompression, the censius around here was a 8.5:1 to like 8.75:1 but without boost the engine would be a lame duck...

Re: It's ordered!!

I guess one thing that I need to do is get rid of the Hypertech chip that came with the car before I do this. Do any of you know....is this just a piggyback for the original prom that I will remove? Not real familiar with this yet.....
