Re: Considering a blower for the 408
Quick update on my "project". Just purchased the blower, should be here in a week or so.
Called Comp cams, and lo and behold, they recommended the same cam I picked out!! - the NX276HR (part# 12-415-8). Coincidence? -

Here's my combo with 177 weiand @ 210 percent over,406 cu in half fill hard block, deck plugs, Eagle rotating assy w/ srp -21 cc,h-beams,210 afr's, comp 236/242@.050 on a 114 lc, total seal top rings. I use a j&s safeguard ignition but have no detonation retard on 91 pump gas at all. It's traction limited runs, have been 11.30's so far last year, with 1.57 ,spinning, backing off, 60 foots. Going to bigger drag radials or et streets this year. Oh by the way this cam idles 19-20 inches vacuum, sounds like a stocker.

That's good to hear allend43 - that's a pretty big cam for a blown motor. It's close to what I had N/A as a matter of fact, but ground on a 110 LSA. If it were ground on a 112, I may have tried to reuse it.
If you're getting 19-20" of vacuum at idle with that cam, that's impressive. The cam I picked out is milder (224/236 at .050) - so I hope to idle with just a little "lope".

The blower tames down the idle, plus the added cu. in. tames down the cam too. My powerband is 2000 to 6000rpm. I doubt your cam will have any lope either, but that = stealth!

Sounds like a killer setup. Let me know what it makes on the dyno ASAP. I would love to copy/mimic it in my forged 386.
I am looking for more power and am NA right now. I might be PMing you for more advice in the future.

dennisbernal91z : I wouldn't bother with the PM's right away....I have to figure this out myself first! lol Hoping to get around 500 RWHP on the dyno, but it never seems to end up that way. But as I said, we'll see...

Re: Considering a blower for the 408
I hear ya. The motor I have now is supposed to make 500 Fly HP, but it only makes 340 HP/TQ at the wheels which is like 420 fly. I am not mad though. Car is fast as heck for a DD 3 seasons a year. Wouldn't mind a little more bite down low. This is my first motor and my first car, I am sure I will just keep getting hungry for bigger numbers, but for now I just realy want to see that 500 HP mark with no juice. For now the juice will get me there no problem, haha.

Re: Considering a blower for the 408
My cam is a solid roller and minus .018 lash puts it probably close to your 224/236 flat tappet as far as duration/power range. I only have 5 degrees timing in the distributor and 27 degrees at the crank for a total of 32 degrees, This also tames the idle and really improves throttle responce and low end torgue, which I really don't need. I can't hook it up with drag radials so I'm going to try street et's this year.
Re: Considering a blower for the 408
Just a quick mention.
Boost pressure in a supercharged application is a measure of resistance in your system.
Basically, the compressor is going to always shoot out the same amount of air per RPM, but the more restrictive your entire setup is, the higher the pressure (and temperatures) are going to be.
Cool thread nevertheless.
