O.K. I'm sure this question has been asked before but I need some wisdom. I have a 91 bird with a 305 tbi/5-speed. I'm looking for the most cost effective way to get a little more power out of it. It's my daily driver so i'm not looking for a 10 sec. car, but 30 more horses would be nice. I have an 87 T/A with a 305 tpi and it screams, can I get similar power out of my 91? With all that said, I live in so cal, must pass smog every other year. Any input would be appriciated.
I think i'm in the wrong forum, where should I post?

Adding an exhaust system to your car would work, most of the are emissions legal, you have to make sure though that it says that.
It'll add about 10 horses.
An Air Intake will give you about 5 horses.
Maybe a new cat. One that is california legal. 3 horses.
Thats a 2-3 hour $200-$300 job. whichll gain you roughly 20 horses...
you could try posting in the engine section, thatll help

For a TBI car you need to be in the TBI forum. They'll point you to the two tech articles on this site called the Ultimate TBI mods. Not all of them of CA smog legal, however. Then head over to the SoCal forum and join our group.

Living in CA. and too little airflow with the TBI - best bet would be a nitrous system that you can remove come smog testing time!

exhaust, and a wet kit.
