Re: twin turbo oil line routing

It is pressure there too, it is after the filter.

You have four locations where you can get oil.

Using an oil filter adapter.
Using the oil temp sensor above the oil filter.
Using the oil pressure sensor behind the intake manifold.
Using the plug above the water pump.

thanks this is what i wanted to figure out. Would using the plug above the water pump have enough flow since I remember the plug being rather small in size 1/8" maybe? Rather than the bolt that is right above the oil filter being larger in diameter.

Re: twin turbo oil line routing

Plug above the water pump? Someone have a picture of this? I didn't think there was an oil line with plug there...? I can only picture the 3 pipe plugs at the end of the main oil galley lines... That's below the water pump isn't it?
If that's the area in question, it's a 1/4 or 3/8" pipe plug, so at least 3/16" of flow area at the very least.

Is this a journal bearing or ball bearing turbo style? From what i've heard you don't need a whole lot of flow to the turbo.

Here...

Not all blocks have this. Sometime in the 80s they quit putting it in all of them.

Re: twin turbo oil line routing

I have one oil line coming from above the oil filter at the 1/4" NPT hole. The other line comes from the TEE at the rear of the block under the distributor. Both lines have a .063" flow restrictor from Mcmaster-carr.com at the turbo inlet.

Re: twin turbo oil line routing

can both turbos be fed off the line coming above the oil filter? I'm assuming this would not need a restrictor either on 2 stock GN turbos.

Re: twin turbo oil line routing

you can buy a sandwich plate to go between the block and the oil filter, that will give you 2 big oil lines for the turbos

Re: twin turbo oil line routing

I installed a T right above the oil filter one side is to feed the turbos the other is for the switch. I see 60 lbs of oil pressure at idle. I do have a high volume oil pump though.
