Turbo selection...I did a search, oddball questions

I have a 350 now, specs are in my sig. I'm taking the blower off because I'm bored and looking for a project.

I did a search to see what people are using for single turbo setups on a 350. Unfortunatly I didn't find anything specific for what I would like to do.

I would like to make 8-12 psi thru a 3" core air-air IC with a max RPM of 5500. Obviously with a redline this low I want the turbo to spool as quick as possible.

Any suggestions? I've been looking at turbos here http://www.atpturbo.com

A stock $600 S400 is not what you want if you want it to spool fast and rev to 5500 RPM. A modified S400 for $1300 will spool quicker. The larger the turbo, the heavier the wheel and the slower it will spool. Something in the T62-T70 or GT37-GT42 range is more suited to your application.

Does anyone have good info on the Hitachi HT-18S? I can't find any useful info thru google. The info I did find tells me it's very similar to a T3.

If it's similar to a T3, forget it unless you have a pair. I wouldn't want anything I couldn't measure the inducer diameter on to get a rough idea of it's capabilities. While it doesn't tell everything, it's a good part of the story.
