Single-Plane MPFI Plate System
Single-Plane MPFI Plate System
From what I have seen only ZEX sells a kit thats advertised specifically for this type of setup. What the difference between a plate system for a carb vs. EFI? Is it because EFI runs at higher fuel pressures? I emailed ZEX but no response yet.
Re: Single-Plane MPFI Plate System
Found the answer on LS1Tech.
The jets are different because of the higher fuel pressure.
So if you run your motor and nitrous of the same pump you would have to use specific EFI jets.
If you run a standalone fuel system for your nitrous though, there should be no problem with using a lower pressure pump and jetting it the same as a carb system.
There are more than likely other ways around this though.

Re: Single-Plane MPFI Plate System
From the Single-Plane Discussion thread in Alternative Port EFI Intakes section:
You would only have to add fuel via computer if you are going to use a dry shot, nitrous only. I don't have enough tuning knowledge to go into that.
With a wet shot you add enough fuel, through separate line and solenoid, to not need to add fuel by other means. Albeit more expensive, it would take away some of the headache of trying to tune for the shot.
When it comes to adding more fuel for the wet system, there are a couple options. You can have a dedicated, sometimes called standalone, fuel system. A separate pump, lines, regulator, and possibly a separate fuel tank may be overkill for smaller shots but definatly needed for larger ones. "Y"ing off of your mainline and running a regulator to get it down to lower PSI would be a cheaper alternative.
From what I can tell the Single-Plane MPFI specific ZEX kit only has different jets the compared to the carb systems they sell. But if you go with the one of the fuel setup above you will be fine with a carb intended system.
I'm especially curious about adding the N20, I know it's been done w/ a plate and single plane efi just leaves me w/ questions.
I'm assuming you plan to add fuel for the n20 w/ the computer and injectors and account that into injector sizing right from the start? -or- would you run a seperate pump (at carb'd psi) and use the plate to spray fuel as well? I like this idea because it would be easy to add a small fuel cell full of 108 just for nitrous use, mixing with the 93 in the tank on track days. Would using the plate to supply fuel and nossss throw off the mixture by messing w/ the O2 or air flow readings to the computer somehow?
