supercharged 350

hey i was just wandering if my 2 bolt main block could hold up to a supercharger? and if it cant do you think it would hold up if i convert the block to a 4 bolt main with the kit that they make. its nothing i am planning on doing now but later after i get the motor in.

Re: supercharged 350

You're 2 bolt will do fine. I bolted on a Procharger P1SC onto my 30k mile L98 and the tranny gave before the engine. I'd rev the engine to 5500 on shifts and etc and the engine didn't mind.

Re: supercharged 350

considering i have the 700r4 and 3500 stall and shift kit do you still think it will hold up. and how much did you pay for your procharger and where did you get it?

Re: supercharged 350

I forget what the price was. I think around 3k .IF I had a second chance I'd go with a D1SC which is a step up from my P1SC.......from Laroccas in NJ.

Re: supercharged 350

a solid 2 bolt is good to about 500 hp, and one converted to 4 bolt is actually stronger than a factory 4 bolt

Re: supercharged 350

when your getting into the 500 horse range i would invest in splaying the mains. Only costs around 200 dollars, and will save your bottom end from disaster. It will be cheaper than converting it to a 4 bolt. When your messing with power like that you want to play it safe, and just because someone else says you don't need to worry about it does't necessarly mean you should forget about it. If i were you i would get that done first!

Re: supercharged 350

A off the shelf P1SC kit for our cars isn't going to blow up his motor unless he does something monumentally dumb. I will say though (sorry I forgot in my last post) is my blower is the reason my tranny (43,000 mile) 700r4 decided to grenade 3rd & 4th on the highway. I had my blower installed for about 3k miles when I jumped into the pass lane, put the pedal to the floor and my transmission said very boldly..no thank you. After that I tore *** around town for a couple of days only using 1st and 2nd gear. Try that with a blower, headers, and a modded 350. Fun for the few days. Like the previous post mentioned once you start messing with significant power upgrades you have to keep in mind the weak links in the chain.
