Re: SUPERCHARGED 383
I'm running a 8.5:1 383 and my blower has a 14lb pulley on it. With the help of my intercooler I should be able to run 91 octance all day long...and stepping up to 93 or CAM2 will do all the better. I ran my 9.75:1 350 with 7lbs of boost all the time and the car loved it.

Re: SUPERCHARGED 383
I wonder how well it will work on the streets with a 383 and supercharger. If you can run on pump gas you may get 7 mpg at 3.50 a gallon. I was thinking about that setup to, but just wont work well on the streets. I am looking into a turbo kit for the 383. Will be much quieter and will get better mpg. Just my

joeblue, actually last I checked I get 14+ a gallon. I'll have to see how it does this season. As far as gas prices goes, I could give 2sharts what the price is. If I was worried about paying for gas my daily driver wouldn't be a full size SUV.

Don't know what else to say except its in the tune. Glad yours is professional. I'm a DIY'fer. I've been running the $59 code, nothing really special about it. Sure, I'll get 4mpg if I've got my foot in it all the time. Also, as far as a SC 383 not being street friendly...I don't see why it wouldn't be if you drive like a normal person. If you drive like a tard, a 1.0L 4cylinder isn't street friendly. Does anyone think the Z06's aren't street friendly?

Re: SUPERCHARGED 383
Im in a similar boat as you. I had talked to JE pistons and they sell dish pistons that will allow you to run premium gas with a supercharger but they are a 6 inch rod versions. We were aiming for boost higher than 8 psi. I had talked to a pro engine builder and he recommends using the longest rod possible to help prevent detonation. He also pointed out that 6 inch rods are not the greatest since the pins end up in the oil grooves and they tend to rock alot because of their short height. He suggested the best thing is to go with 5.85 inch rods but I am still trying to find pistons that will give me the same compression as the JE pistons. The JE pistons are 170817 and will give you an 8.2:1 comp ratio with 76cc heads. Remember this is also related to elevation so different guys will get different results depending where you live.
