Specs for a 383 turbo engine.
I am swapping my 305 in my 92 camaro for a 383 but need to know details on what would be best for the swap. I have a t3/t4 hybrid turbo which i think pushes up to 15ibs of boost. I was thinking a regular tpi setup would be sufficient amount of air to fuel the boost. But the major questions are in the compression ratio and the valve work.
Everyone on here seems to know a good bit about these things and i thought ide ask around. seems like no one around where i live knows much about turbo systems. For an LT1 engine bored over to a 383 what cam would be best for a street/strip car. Im trying to rang around 500 hp and 500 ft/ibs torque which i hear is easy with the turbo/engine i have. Some suggestions are zz4 cam and lt1 cam what are the durations for each of these? and which would be more street suited. Plus I here a low compression is better for boost maybe 8.5:1 not sure on this? Forged rods pistons and crank will be installed so the engine can handle more. Any preferences on type or places to buy good quality parts? The biggy is valve work. One thing I dont know much about is the valve train needed to run this. Standard 350 heads? or should I go with a more durable material then cast iron? plus is it possible to run dual springs? Also what about clearance? I have heard a lot about injectors but I am not sure what is true and what is bs. Will standard LT1 injectors at 24ibs be sufficient?
I work at NAPA store and ask people all the time what they know about these things and everyone has different answers.
But my goal is a long lasting 500 hp street/strips car with about the same amount of torque. Ive already got the turbo so i want to colaborate that into the mix and try to push as much out of the boost while still not detonating my engine. If anyone can help me out a bit ide gladly appreciate it. Also any tricks of the trade I should know before starting this project? I have the resources for the parts just need help on what works best with what. Just trying to get as long a life out of this engine as i can and still be fast. Thank you.

Re: Specs for a 383 turbo engine.
Are you talking about rwhp? Youll make more than that at the crank with only 3psi.
8.5:1 cr
iron heads are fine, go with a .500-.525 lift cam with a lobe sep of 112-114. Hot cam would be ok. Keep it limited to 7-8 lbs of boost. Intercool it. Motor alone should make around 375 hp, with boost, should be around 550-600. Keep your rpms below 6500. Itll pull hard past that, but your engine's life will depend how many rpms you turn. Wont have to do anything to your valvetrain either if you keep your rpms down.
Forced induction does a real good job of making up for "not the best flowing" heads and cam.
