Turbo mounting location

I have been casually looking through random single turbo pictures to see where people are mounting their turbos. Right now I have 2 lt1 turbo kits, 1 is a complete hotside setup using stock lt1 manifolds and the other is a partial PTK setup with just headers and a crossover pipe. The problem is, both kits are designed to mount the turbo between the crank pulley area and the radiator. In the 4th gens you have to stand the radiator straight up (they lean towards the engine at the top). Now I know that our radiators stand straight up already, but is there enough room to somehow mount a turbo in that same area? Based off of pictures I am thinking my stock manifold hotside setup will fit around the accessories with few problems but I am not sure about turbo clearance..

Anyone done this before?

Re: Turbo mounting location

Have you tried measuring the diestance between the front of the motor, and the radiator, and check to see if it was close to that of a 4th Gen LT1 car?

Thinking about it, I would say that there is more room in the Thirdgen engine bay infront of the motor, compaired to a LT1 even after standing the radiator up.

The biggest issue with using your manifold Set up on your new car is the motor mounts, they are in different places, and built differently. I spent quite a bit of time thinking about how one could build a very easy to work on single set up in these cars. IM me later, and ill show you some pics, and some ideas.

Re: Turbo mounting location

Really I am not sure how much clearance I need to have to be safe from the accessories. I am curious about your ideas though. Ill hit you up later, any certain time?
