Top Shot kit, it actually works!
I was a little sceptical of this kit because i was conserned with distribution, and just how much power it would make. I do not have dyno numbers, or track times just yet, but they should be coming with in the month. I run a wideband on this car, and i can tell you, the out of the box NOS jetting chart is WAY too rich. It called for a 47n/53f with atleast 5lbs of fuel pressure. So i started off with a bottle at 1050psi and tested it. A/F went from on motor at 12.3 to 9.9-10.1 range! I moved the spray head around a little bit to ensure i was missing the boosters, and i was. So be adventrous and after consulting the online jet calculators, i swaped the jets to a 53n/47f, and up the fuel pressure to 6.5lbs and the A/F came out to 11.8-11.9
Not to mention it felt MUCH better.
After trying those jets out a few times, I switched over to a 61n/55f jetting, car felt stronger, but not what i was expecting. It was difficult to keep the bottle pressure up high enough to keep the A/F out of the low 10's.
To correct that issue, I bought a couple Nano kits as they are make locally to me, and every nitrous car I have driven/ridden in has always had one. Sense they are able to maintain higher bottle pressures until everything is out of the bottle, it is SO much easier to tune the car. Not to mention, i went back to the 47n/53f and the A/F was still in the high 10's but it pulled much better then the previous 53n/47f at the leaner A/F. I bumped it up to a 55n/61f, and it is a blast! Hopefully I will get a chance to go pick up some good fuel and try maxing out the little top shot module on the dyno and just see how much power you can push out of one of these.

cool! let us know how it runs. Would be sweet to dip into the 10's!

i never switch out both fuel and nitrous jets at the same time like you did. On bigger shots that is a good way to pop something. Make 1 change at a time, not two.

I hope to hit 10's this year, might be a bit of a stretch with vortec heads, and only a 150 shot.

With the way your car runs on motor, I'd expect NO LESS than a 10.80 out of it with proper traction on a true 150 shot out of hole....and 127mph.

Re: Top Shot kit, it actually works!
Hit the dyno, Im having some ignition issues it seems, and possibly some internal motor issues that I have had getting worse before i put the bottle on. It seems the valve guides are going out in the heads, last time this happened, i had similar power loss issues, and a lack of being able to make power up high.
But heres what it did on a 55nitrous pill, and 10.4:1 a/f on bottle.

Re: Top Shot kit, it actually works!
After some more dyno/track testing, Im only picking up 90rwhp, and 85rwtq with a 61 nitrous pill. At the track I ran 11.10 @ 124 with a 3900 DA
On the dyno a new coil fixed my ignition miss, and i can make smooth pulls to 6k, this last dyno shop did not email me my run files, so i cant post, should be going to the previos dyno place soon. The car laid down the same HP TQ numbers it did last year when corrected, (330hp/349tq) and 420hp/434tq on bottle.
I did have the topshot module flowed at NANO, it can support a 68nitrous jet, thats it, doesnt flow any more with no jet, or a larger one in place. With 1050 bottle pressure behind it, it calculates out to 225shot (crank) based off the lbs/min it can flow.
After my dissappointing results with the 61 nitrous jet, after running 8 full bottles through the system, i decided it was time to check the nitrous filter/solenoid, there was junk in both. The filter had clogged, and the pressure had ripped the top portion of it open to flow some nitrous, and now crap was getting into the solenoid. Most of it looks like crap from my carpet (fibers and such) and some black teflon/rust from the bottle. Im thinking i had a slight clog for a while, as there was no real performance gain going from a 55n to a 61n pill.
New larger nitrous solenoid (decided to upgrade to reduce chances of failer, and will run one as a safety), and a large inline nitrous filter are here, and going on. Im going to test the 55, 61, 68 jetting on the dyno to verify just how much nitrous will actually make it into the engine.

Re: Top Shot kit, it actually works!
Dynod again this weekend, but only had time to do a base line, and 2 nitrous pulls. Used a 58n/61f and gained 128rwhp/120tq
looks like i found my restriction when i replaced the nitrous filter and nitrous solenoid. I am now running a Nitrous Outlet inline canister filter back by the bottle, and Nitrous Outlet's large .125 nitrous solenoid.
Considering i gained 38rwhp with a jet 3 sizes smaller (previous being 90rwhp on a 61n jet), I am very please with the results.
Motor base line was the same as before, +/- 2-3hp

Re: Top Shot kit, it actually works!
you need to figure out your A/F ratio.. too rich can destroy your pistons.. though not on an extreme level like the big guys but you can lift a piston ring land from being too rich.. and with a better tune, its gonna run better.. 10's should be there if its good..

A/F is high 10's through the run. I never have gotten a strait answer on how rich is too rich, and how too rich can kill pistons. Ive seen examples of pistons that have died due to too rich of a mixture, but never did know the cause.

Dyno from the same shop, but dynos lower then the other I have been to. This is the above dyno graph with the bad coil and a 55n jet, with the new pulls added with the new coil and 58n jet.

With the increased cylinder pressure the fuel can get under the ring lands and ignite...bye bye ring lands lol. i've always liked this kit for the sneaky factor, looks like the solenoids fit under the air cleaner nicely

Ya solenoids hide pretty well, they actually sit on the passenger side of the distributer. Those are the smaller powershot ones that i was running, now im running the large Nitrous Outlet nitrous noid, in about the same spot, but with a wireloom ran over from the engine harness, and the plug wires. I think I hid it better this time around then what you see there.

Yeah i'm gonna build a gen III 408 with a fogger/plate multi stage system in my drag car, should be fun. gonna do my first playing with nitrous soon, got the Brand X system from nitrous outlet, they have a lot of nice products. i should've gotten a filter now that i read this LOL

Your power peak on the dyno graphs looks like 5k, are those heads ported?

Im happy with them. Kinda odd feeling car, as it never picks up any more power that you can feel reving it.
Hopefully this winter I will be plucking this motor, freshen up the bottom end, toss in some flat top pistions and a set of AFR 210 elems, should help move peak power up a little ways.
