I hear ya, but they're already here, and I'm not about to go buy a larger set only to scrap them when I get the turbo's on in a week or two....

Quote: .... how much static compression are you running?
comp is 10.44:1, ring gap is .022, and aparently my pistons only have a 1" crown, not very big, probably not good for the heat. The company that bult the motor just told me its not going to happen

**** thats a bigger ring gap then i run, i set mine to .018, but yeah just about 10.5-1 is alil steep there. unless of course u could run the thing on e85 then it be perfect lol

i was thinking about e85, what all does that entail aside from a carb swap/rebuild? Then, only issue is wherer to buy e85 in central jersey :scratch:

yeah that could severly limit how far u could drive,wouldnt be so bad if it was onl\y say 10 miles away,but even then u couldnt go far. would be nice if the racetracks started to carry e85 though. for ppl who run a standalone ems u could drive to t he track on pumpgas and swap and fill up with e85 and swap the tune in a few seconds

E85 at the track would be nice. I would like to drive my Camaro to the track on woodgas (free wood) and then run E85 for some 10 sec runs. That would be fun.
Eventually, I want to start playing with E85 and lean burn to see what kind of mileage I get.

Quote: Anesthes over on the alternative intake boards has turned me on to the Victor Jr. intake, albeit w/injector bungs, and 90 degree elbow w/larger throttle body.
Anesthes over on the alternative intake boards wants to sell his miniram and run a victor EFI. I'd like to talk to someone who actually has one first to get some measurements, and FPR advice.

Hey Rob,

Thanks for the PM.

I don't know if you have seen what my routing looks like:

http://members.cisdi.com/~anesthes/a...r/100_0992.JPG

But I'd like to run a singleplane with a 90* LS1 adapter. This would eliminate bunch of 90* bends and help with the cylinder issue. (some cyls run leaner than others as indicated by the plugs).

I think the Miniram is a great manifold for N/A or nitrous, but for boost i think a singleplane is the best. I went fastest, and had best throttle response with a singleplane and monoblade throttle body. Trying to get back to where I was in 2004. (otherwise I'm pushing the vette into the river)

Small Update....;

Just got ahold of my recent purchase, an '89 Iroc shifter w/linkage, so the B&M Megashifter is getting pulled in about an hour or so to make way for it. Also, I installed a set of AC Delco Rapid Fire spark plugs, and Flamethrower ignition module. I have a backup AC Delco ignition module ready just in case the Flamethrower burns out, don't worry....

Needs a major cleaning before install, but I like it much better though....

Hey man, if you're looking to get rid of that shifter, I'll take it.

I need a stock one. The stock one on my 85 is garbage, so I'm looking for an 87+ one.

Going to have to pick up the pace with my turbo application, as my buddy Shawn just picked up his '88 GTA w/LS1 conversion today, and he's looking to turbo charge it as soon as possible. Can't have him doing that before me lol....

Re: Yet Another Turbo Charged Iroc, & Question For BBS Designs..... ;)
Update....;

Okay guys, this project has taken on a very surprising twist. I'm scrapping the fuel injection idea. I'm keeping the carburetor, and will be converting it into a blow-thru design (w/hat, no enclosed box) hopefully by the end of this week. Sticking with a mechanical fuel pump (a Carter strip pump), as my cousin just showed me how to convert it to reference boost. Won't be able to run as much boost as I'd like to, but hey, I'm more concerned with ET, and not just Dyno numbers. Chris, I'm thinking about the other set you have now, this way Dave would only need to fabricate the down pipe to the cat (w/cut out), as opposed to the crossover as well. Stay tuned....

I know, but it won't be ready in time if I go that route. Getting ready to paint the car too, and the money being saved just by keeping it carbed is helping tremendously. I'm going to try the mechanical pump method first and see how well she fairs. If it won't compensate for up to 15-psi of boost, I'll switch to an electric fuel pump. 383BackinBlack made me a believer in the blow-thru carb awhile back....

Quote: Now, what I would like to do, is, have a much stronger set built in comparison to these from SSAutochrome. I'm kind of leaning away from the under the engine method, I'd rather have them meet up in the front similar to Dave's 3.1 turbo setup. Of course, not as high as Dave's coming from the passenger side, it's gotta remain under the upper radiator hose....

Wow, that picture looks familiar. I actually sold that intake infavor of an old school TPI...

And by the way those are not SSautojunk headers. The merged collectors are burns and cost 600.00 alown...

There not and I don't care what SSautojunk properties say... The headers were made by Chris @ ForcedPSI.com, we were test fitting them on my C3 corvette trying to figure out a design for my build. Those headers were made for his 69 Camaro, which was in the first Hot Rod "Pump Gas Drags"

You can check out more pics here if you like... Probably the place SSautojunk got them...

Well, I'll tell you what then, why not contact an attorney and slap ssautochrome with a copyright infrigement suit. As for your BS comment, I fail to see where your point is actually going. I congratulate you on a very nice build, that must be a very mean ride to say the least, but, what do you want me to say though....?

SSautochrome is notorious for stealing other people's designs, and they're work is far from desirable. I originally used that pic as a basis for BBS to draw an idea from when I first started this thread, as I didn't have a quad turbo pic of his readily available....

Rob, naaa, the BS flag was directed to SSautojunk… It just pissed me off when I saw the properties you mentioned and the fact those headers which are a work of art were compared to chinese junk. Your project looks cool and on track. Looking forward to your future posts. Good Luck!
