TBI Nitrous Questions

Hey, I have a 91 Chevy RCSB 350 TBI. I have a TBI nitrous kit I will be installing but would like to clear up a few things before. I have read the instructions but I still would like some opinions.

For the fuel supply, I dont really want to be drilling holes and such in my throttle body for the supply line as instructions state. Could I get a shrader valve off ebay that many guys install on the supply line to the TBI and T off that to the fuel solenoid.

Next would be my fuel system. I have hooker longtubes, 3 inch exhaust, tbi mods, msd ignition(coil,wires,6a box). I am wondering if maybe I should be installing an external fuel pressure regulator to up the pressure abit more for the nitrous. Also possibly putting in a TPI fuel pump. Would I be able to get away without these things or would it be highly suggested with the nitrous plans. Im looking at 75-100shot. I would also be looking at getting it tuned(by westers) to run good with the nitrous.

Other than these 2 questions I think I have everything figured out. If I could get some opions and suggestions that would be great. Even some pictures of where people have mounted there solenoids on TBI would be great as Im having fun trying to figure out where I want them.

Thanks

Re: TBI Nitrous Questions

1) If you up the fuel pressure on your car, the nitrous/fuel jettings that are in your manual will not be valid because they are for a TBI car running ~13psi fuel pressure. If I were you I would install a TPI or 190lph pump but keep it at 13psi.

2) Your options for fuel supply are to either cut and "T" the supply line or drill the throttle body. If you dont want to drill the top of the injector pod, I have one already drilled with the fitting in it that I could sell you if you are interested.

*Note - When I ran nitrous in my TBI car with the stock fuel pump, it supported the 75 shot just fine. When I bumped it up to a 100 shot, the pump was maxing out and causing my car to run wayyyyy lean. You do NOT want this to happen, trust me. I HIGHLY recommend upgrading your fuel pump before hitting the button.

Re: TBI Nitrous Questions

Thanks for clearing things up I really appreciate it! I will most likely T the supply line this way I can check my fuel pressure first and then I can just connect the line up after.
Thanks!

Re: TBI Nitrous Questions

I second what irishhockey34 said except I've run a 125 shot on my car on the stock TBI pump for quite a while and never had that issue. I guess the key message is be careful and start small then work your way up
