Change of plan, turboing a 5.3 with the manifolds

Ok, while I appreciate all the help from everybody in my last thread, I was going to use an old 327 in a turbo application in my camaro. But plans have changed, and the 327 will be going in a my 68 RS/SS convertible. So I called one of my friends at a local JY and he hooked me up with a iron block 5.3 for cheap.

So the real reason I changed my mind on the 327 to the 5,3 is the TR
UCK MANIFOLD TURBO set up on ls1 tech. I saw this write up and was like wait a minute. I can take this motor and just turn the manifolds around and have the turbo set in front of the motor? Well I dont know about you but that sound alot easier than building turbo headers to me. Also One heck of alot easier than doing the rear mount system too. It just seems to be alot less plumbing than anything else. So it looks like I'm off to the JY to see if I can find the flanges for the y pipe then I can start building the hot side soon.

I just have to tell you guys I am so frickin excited about this, I have had this car sitting in my barn for the better part of 5 years, and since I got it I have wanted to do a turbo ls motor in it. So I guess everything is in motion now. I hope it goes quickly, but not to fast that I cut any corners.

I will be running a th350 and the stock 9 bolt rear end. Atleast until something breaks that is. I do have the option of running a 12 bolt in the rear of my car but would have to fab up some brackets, and mounts in the car.

I see you finally came around on using the LM7. It is a much better package to start out with as I said in your previous thread. Good luck with your build.

Yep! Not doing the turbo setup this time. Maybe in the winter when money is better. I think a nitrous system will be in order though.
