Re: lt1 turbo?please help

depends...how much power and what internals will you have in it? stock bottom end? probably dont want to push much more than 500whp and thats only if rpms are lower and tune is spot on.

Affordable turbo? Master Power comes to mind..about 550-600 each. I ran those on my 401 for about 400 miles before swapping to larger Master Power units. Never had a problem with them but 400 miles is NOT alot

Depending on the power, T3/T4 with small A/R on the turbine side could get boost in around 2500-3000 rpm easily and still make good power up top. May beable to get the .68 T4's in by then as well but probably not until 3500 or so.

Re: lt1 turbo?please help

yes, i plan on keeping the stock block for now, i just want to have a little fun on the street, i have no intention on putting this thing on the track yet, but i read that a 1996 lt1 can handle a great deal of horsepower with work, but ive already bought a ford 9 in rear with 3.70s and a strange centersection, i just wanted to know a trustworthy kit thats affordable and doesnt require me to change my pistons or rods, etc.

Dont know of any kits for these cars...going to have to fab your own, atleast could possibly start with a purchased set of headers/manifolds from somebody. Few places have something that could work but on a stock motor with LT1's high compression ratio, you wont beable to run much boost on pump gas. I think 10 is all you should try but some may have gone higher.

The only other kits available that could work out but would need abit of fab work to adapt to a 3rd gen are the STS remote mount turbo kits and they are mostly single turbo kits

You definitely want to keep you boost low if you can I read way to many horror stories from guys with lt1's blowing up their engines though I must admit I question their tuning on a lot of them. I would say 7-8PSI would work nicely and be relatively safe if you have a good tune.
