rear single turbo looking for 20psig
rear single turbo looking for 20psig
Hi I have an 86 iroc z 350 board 40 over with a B&M supercharger, Heads are cast iron port and pollished, with 210 intake valves, I also switched stock intake valves and put them on the exhaust side. "stayed with cast iron heads for more durability from heat or lifting" Heads also have ARP head bolts and rollerrockers.
The supercharger set up runs great down here in fl keys i dont have to many competors as far as street cars and 7lbs IS NOT fast enought for me. The car also has nitto nt555r drag dots on rear that i LOVE so far and currently a holly double pumper 4150 750cfm carb, with hooker headers, Speed Pro forged pistons, stock rods and ballanced crank also need to buy the msd boost timming ret. box
Im shooting for 15lbs daly driver, turn up to 20lbs if i get beat in a race
i have a couple qusetoins, and im sure more will come up, im ording a set of eagle forged rods and crank that eagle clams will hold 1500h.p. A intercoller and a carb hat.
* About how much is it to send a holly carb to C&S and have it converted a blow thorugh, and how do i get ahold of the company?
* What is the best intake mainfold for a rear turbo build?
* The turbo Holset HX40 pro:::: "off of a raced out cummings diesel" Here is what i know, unfortunately the tag on the compressor housing is missing:
6 blade compressor wheel, 60mm inducer minor
12 blade turbine wheel
T3 tangential exhaust housing, and it says "14" in the casting, so I'm assuming a 14cm^2 housing.
Internally Gated
3.225" ID V-band outlet
Casting on turbine housing:
3533221
14 164 06 IS that a good turbo for what im trying to do??? and someone told me the internal wastgate will not work i didnt understand why????
* about where should i have the timing set on a stock harmonic damper??? i have the supercharger timing at 10deg.
*
i really apperciate your time and knowledge, todd

Re: rear single turbo looking for 20psig
Are you removing the supercharger?
The internal gate is probably set at >20psig, on the high side for a turbo gas motor...
if it's got a 14 on the exhaust housing it should be 14cm^2, which is an OK size for the exhaust housing (fairly small). I don't know what an HX40 pro is but from the 6 vanes and 60mm inducer it sounds like a Super40, a decent but smallish turbo (can probably push 600hp tops on a good day), how well it works depends on the setup that you're putting it on and what you expect from it (lower pressures/higher flow means needing a larger compressor for the same setup to stay efficient).
