Vortech V1 on L98 - question!

I was wondering, is it possible to put Vortech V1 supercharger on L98 without ECM modifications?

Yes you can put a Vortech on the L98 with out programing the ECM. Just dont drive it.

Yes, but it requires the usage of Vortech's adjustable FMU. Primitive, yes, but it works. Note though that if you change injector size, you'll need a new chip regardless, so your better off just having someone burn you a chip for larger injectors, then running the FMU. Or, scrap the FMU altogether, and burn the right chip with altered MAF/MAP and Alpha-N tables....

For the example, I saw on this site (http://www.ehow.com/about_6390287_di...ercharger.html) part of text:

On many domestic fuel-injected V-8s, a centrifugal supercharger can add almost 100 horsepower without even reprogramming the computer.

That's the reason I asked

Re: Vortech V1 on L98 - question!

Vortec and all the others do sell their kits with no computer modifications, not sure why everyone is all freaked out. Usually you will get a FMU and a fuel pump with it, also maybe a ignition/boost control unit for your spark retard in the kit. Those 3 things will work on the car for years but to get the most out of your supercharger a change to the ECM or aftermarket computer would give you full control.

Her are some instructions for the TPI Vortec kit to give you a idea http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/...e=4GF218im.pdf
