Stand alone nitrous/E85

Im going to run a stand alone nitrous kit with a 2 gallon fuel cell..... i've heard alot of people using race gas instead of regular gas in the fuel cell to feed the nitrous....here is my question.....what if any advantages would there be to using E85 instead of the race gas....has anyone done it before?

Why a seperate system? Just use the e85 fuel, it works fine. Look around the net for jetting. The seperate system was years ago when peopekl were nervous about E85. I have tuned e85 nitrous and it's easy once you have a handle on things.

would that not require a change in underlying tune to accomodate the higher 02 content of E85 as well as changing the injectors to mega size? gas lines and tank (pump?) may need to be 85 resistant? Personally i dont see the small advantage of standalone E85 as dedicated fuel? just run larger injectors in N20 system.

Re: Stand alone nitrous/E85

I did ask one guy that is familiar with E85 and he did mention the jetting would have to be a bit higher opposed to the jetting for regular gas but once i put the kit on ill figure out the jetting......im wondering what the HP diferrence would be in a comparison for example a 150shot on the same motor one with gas another with E85 with correct jetting ofcourse would one make more power then the other?? I also like the fact that the E85 would also keep combustion temps lower n specially here in AZ haha

its a carb'd motor carb jetting n timing is no big deal. but the motor will run on regular gas im saying of using the E85 for the nitrous hit only not to run the motor at all time on E85

Re: Stand alone nitrous/E85

you could do e85, but if it will be only used at the track or whatever i would probably just stick with race gas in the standalone. i've seen e85 pick up ~10whp on a '07 z06 over pump gas.

Re: Stand alone nitrous/E85

Its a street car but the nitrous will most likely only be used at the track but.....you never know haha yeah race gas seems easier to use because I won't have to mess with jetting so much I could probably use what I have....I don't think 10 rwhp is worth it but then again the corn juice is a lot cheaper decisions decisions...thanks for all the info guys

Re: Stand alone nitrous/E85

jetting for N20 is so simple. a 1 minute job. WB use is helpfull. N20 in itself reduces combustion temps significantly so not sure what help E85 would be on standalone. If you like the process of adding a dedicated tank for E85 I say go for it. WOW factor there for sure. Retro fitting non N20 use for E85 is an expensive proposition. But again if you have the bucks why not.

what do you do in 1 minute to figure out what the jetting needs to be?

Re: Stand alone nitrous/E85

I am fortunate to own an Innovative WB. Some will say it is not 100% accurrate. Innovate users and mfg say otherwise. Some will say plug reads are imperitive. I have a baseline established with my N20 "on" and plug reads being very rich. WB shows 10.5/1. Pulled 4 deg SA with N20. MAX SA then is 30 or less into pull(increased drag). That was with stock plugs. I have since changed to next cooler champ plug available, which I will say is 2 steps cooler. 60 seconds I swapped in the next step richer on the N20 side. I used NOS chart which is believed quite rich and quite on safe side.
