nitrous help, 367 carb

i am very sorry because i spent the last 2 hrs reading on posts in here and im sure im the anoying person to ask this question for the 10,000th time

i have a 1987 camaro iroc-z used to be the l98 tpi but was taken out built with forged internals and switched to carb.

right now i have the NOS cheater plate kit and running a 100 shot
i used to have autolite xx26 plugs and i went to autolite xx24's did i do the right thing is that a cooler plug??

i shot the car with a 100 wet shot maybe 4 times.. i have a nice cam in the car and it used to sound amazing at idle.... now it does not want to idle that much anymore and seems to be quite rich. any ideas? (msd street blaster ign box, msd HEI dist cover/rotor) 34* timing

i know im running a low shot for what i have but im trying to get used to it before bumping up to a 150..... now for the final question.. i have a walbro 255 in tank pump that i installed when it was fuel injected.. and i have a holley 3 port return style regulator on it with a gauge and can only get about 4psi of fuel no matter how i adjust it.. now if i switch my lines i can get 10psi but very minimal for adjusting with the regulator... what is good fuel pressure to run with a 100-150 shot???

i am sorry for asking a question that has been asked a million times, i tried to find the answer by searching old posts but was unsuccessfull please post back any feedback if you will- Chris Bystrack

I ran nitrous for 4+yrs, first of all, whats the timing on the spray? are you tuning with an air/fuel ratio guage, if not GET one. If the autolite 26s were the hottest, then 2 steps colder at 24 should be fine even with a 150+ shot as long as you watch your timing and fuel. I had my fuel press. at 6.5psi all the way down the track on a 150 shot...i have a guage inside the cowl of my hood so i can see the pressure at all times. How much power does the car make on motor? what carb? what jetting? give us the most details you can on the car...i'd get a better pump than that 255lph you got there.

Re: nitrous help, 367 carb

timing is at 34* while on the bottle, fuel pressure is 5.5ish, no air fuel ration gauge, the carb is a holley vac secondarie 670 stock jetting in the carb

what i want to know is what plug to use. when the engine was built i was told to put the 26's in it. it ran good, rich but better than the 24's. it was so rich that when i stomp'd the peddle it smoked a blueish color and smelled of pure gas... now i switched back to the 26's and its still a tad rich but got the smoke away now.

As far as all motor its a mid 400 horse engine with everything forged top to bottom with AFR heads 1:5 comp cams roller rockers.

car just does not seem to run as it did before. When i changed plugs last night back to 26's the 24's looked okay not melted or anything.... i dont know im lost i guess... car used to cam hard at idle and now it dose not, seems lazy could the 2* in timing be what im thinking is an engine issue?

Re: nitrous help, 367 carb

This question if mostly for my benefit. I am TBI. I run a TPI pump. Aeromotive return type regulator. I am set at 23 lbs FP. I that is 23 lbs to injectors and same to solenoid. I installed system last year and in 5 test runs all were very rich on N20 jetting(50-70HP). That is OK. I stepped up N20 jet to enlean my A/F. I have yet to run N20 this season. I have an Innovative WB with pillar mount gauge.

If your FP shows 4 lbs at carb what FP does your N20 solenoid see? I presume 4 lbs. So your jetting has to be with a much larger fuel jet for N20. Right? Any advantage to regulate the fuel side of N20 to larger FP?

Are you running the side-gapped AR series 3934/6 or the standard gap 3924/6 plugs? Those AR series plugs foul out nightmarishly fast on the street. They work great for racing but the side-gap style deteriorates rapidly just driving around on the street.

I use standard gapped 3924 plugs in my AFR heads when street driving N/A. Big block and small block.

go over to www.yellowbullet.com and inquire in the nitrous section. they have top notch people from NOS, and Induction Solutions that always check the boards and respond to help everyone they can. It is a great source of info on N20

Yup, great people there, helped my slow **** go quicker lol. One thing you should try and do for starters is get that carb tuned properly. You're leaving power on the table just with that being so rich. Really must be rich since the colder plug is fouling out so quick.

If you're running a plate/wet shot, then the FP at the nozzle is what you're seeing on the gauge. It can dip when you hit it initially, but in general if you have 23 PSI at the TBI unit you'll have 23 PSI at the fogger/plate. Are you running a carb fuel jet with your TBI setup and/or jetting for a stock TBI system? If so you are probably insanely fat.
