vortech v3

vortech makes the v3 s trim kit for sbc that will fit the serpentine brackets. i have a couple questions.

1) will it fit under a third gen hood
2) how will it compare to a turbo set up lb for lb
3) what kind of gains would i see at 10 psi and would it be safe
4) would it be worth the extra 5k or so to put it together?( i know 5k can buy a whole lot of parts)
5) would my cam work decently well?

not to be a smart *** or a d*^# but before posting questions like these you really should use the search, and if you cant find it on here there is also a great website that im sure you've heard of called www.google.com

Re: vortech v3

i have searched, and there is NOTHING on this website about this, so why did you waste your time typing?

i dont know if you seen this but my motor is carbed, which means blow through, no "google search" has turned up anything about a blow through set up.

Re: vortech v3

i know, i was looking at your build the other day, i was being a smartass too LOL

anyways, i know the vortech carb enclosure is WAY too big, so i was planning on using a low profile bonnet. also will be going with a csu carb whether i go turbo/ supercharger. im looking to be around 600 crank hp. i know my compression is high, so i will most likely drop down and go forged pistons, as i have hyper pistons now. if im able to get my compression around 8:1 would i be able to run in the high teens for boost(most likely using a meth kit) and not detonate?

Re: vortech v3

8:1 is too low IMO, do you have aluminum or iron heads? if aluminum i would shoot for 9:1 if you have iron i like keeping that at around 8.5:1, high 10s afr is on the rich/conservative side i try to stay in the mid 11s with retarded timing. if 600flywheel hp is all you want just get the v1 im sure that will get there no problem. As we speak i am in the process of putting the vortech v1 in my brothers 89 iroc with a forged 383 and blow thru

Re: vortech v3

im using vortec heads, so those will be replaced with afr 195s or 210s. i also already have a wideband installed. the v3 kit is like 2k and i would need a carb, msd btm, fuel pump, boost ref regulator, bov( i have a 1g dsm bov which will prob work). and some odds and ends. my current cam is 110lsa would it be worth the cost to switch to a hydraulic roller with like 114?
