what internals should i buy for a twin turbo kit?

hey guys im buying a buddies old turbo kit off his 88 GTA that pushed his car to a 9.0@ 154mph(with a built 383) to put on my car. its not going on right away obvisously but i wanted to get an idea from you guys on what engine internals i should pick up to run 12lbs on street and maybe 16 or so at the track. i only want a 355 as i want as much block strength as i can get without filling it.

high flow injection ported plenum, slp runners, and factory base.
JE boost piston 8.9.1
eagle h-beam forged rods
eagle forged standard stroke crank
either modified LT1 heads or buy pro comp aluminum pieces.
no idea on what cam to run???
aeromotive 1000 with sumped stock tank and stainless feed/return
holley commander stand alone
the car will be swapped to a T56 and will be drivin on the street.

some of you may recognise the car/kit. as it was in car craft a couple years ago named "HARD CORE" just want some opinions from you guys on what you think of my part selection, what cam i should run and please if you have anything else that will help me in this project please chime in
here is the car that im buying the turbo kit from

im hoping to have this project on the road by next summer

Stay away from pro comps for boosted applications... the heads are thin at the deck and may flex under higher boost. This will blow head gaskets or pressurize the cooling system and could get oil into the coolant or worse, coolant into the oil.

Doing LT1 heads is a waste of time with boost. IF you want a budget aftermarket head, look at pro-filers, or Jeg's brand heads as they are the same thing. Also look at Dart SHP heads as they are old school pro 1 castings but still make decent power. With boost tho, you will overcome any head short comings with more boost.

May want to look at holley dominator EFI if you go aftermarket. Commander is old technology. The newer stuff is much better to tune with and will handle boost well.

Other than that, parts look good enough. 4 bolt main would be nice...or do a 2 bolt converted to splayed 4 bolt for extra bottom end strength.

Cam, keep it smaller since those turbos are not big at all. TPI has short rpm range anyway so something similar to what marty ran would be great. 218/218 single pattern could work, or a 224/224 but dont go any bigger. Its unnecessary.

Re: what internals should i buy for a twin turbo kit?

thanks for chiming in here bud, i love your car, i know i dont post here much but thats cause im more or less learning as much as i can as im new to this gen1 stuff. i had a all motor 9.7.1 408 with ls3 heads and intake in a 01 camaro ss that ran 11.70s with full leather interior, ac, and cruise control, that i built with my dad. before that we had a nitrous 94z that ran 12.0s on spray(stock 130k LT1), and thats the closes thing to a gen1 that ive dealt with(even though its completly different). so what size injectors do you think i should run? i was thinkin 60s at least but that may be to small if i wanna run 16lbs or more. realistically id like the car to run low 11s to a high 10 as i dont want to clutter the interior with to much roll bar( im 350lbs and 6'7'') i just wanna do a 6 point max with swing outs, which iirc is good to 10.0 or 135. i was kinda thinkin of doing a custom cc503 with a 114 lsa but that may even be too big of a cam. and yes i was gonna splay my factory L98 block.

60's will support high 10 second power and likely mid low 10's if the car aint that heavy.

Given marty's old numbers... in the 500-600whp range, 60lbs work well. Much higher than that you want to go with 72's or so, or run the 60's at higher lsx pressures. I run 80's and hope to handle 1000hp but they worked well at lower 600whp levels

Re: what internals should i buy for a twin turbo kit?

see i was wondering if i could do that, will the taller ls style injectors work? the reason i ask is we ran the ford svo 30s on our 408 when we first got it going and they fit fine. so will the ls style injector fit in my fuel rails? if so then with a AFPR then i could run 58psi. iirc a buddy with a turbo ls1 is running 60s on his 720rwhp and 800rwtq so 60s should be fine i would think as long as i can run them at ls fuel pressure.

Yes the regular LS1 injectors should work. I know guys using LS injectors in their builds and LS guys using SVO injectors in their rails. As long as its the same EV1 connector at the injector harness it should work fine. Test fit to be sure but I dont see why they wont work?

you can take injectors rated at 43 psi and turn them up to lsx rail pressure of 58 and make more power as long as the pump can keep up the demand at that higher pressure.

Thats my plan this year..if my 80's dont handle the new combo at 48psi I have now I think, I'll jack it up to 58-60 and see how much more I can get. I dont think I'll need to go too high since I'm prettty sure 80's can do 1000hp on the right setup. I'll put that to the test.

I believe my friend was running 60's at high pressure on his ls build that made 700whp as well. My other friend made 815whp or so with 80's at lsx pressure. 60's rated at 43psi would maybe be 70's at 58. Could be enough injector.
