Rubber vs silicon elbows?
Long story short, brother inlaw is deployed and asked me to take out his 05 Roush with a Paxton Novi 2200 for a couple days to "blowout the cobwebs" as its been sitting since March. I had been driving about 25 mins, turned onto a straight away and got on it some and the rubber elbow coming out of the intercooler split open. Was only a couple miles from home so was able to limp it home (cars in limp mode, no boost, AFR reading is 10 at idle).
Anyway,Paxton wants $75 for the elbow and I noticed the elbow at the intercooler inlet is pretty squishy so I'm guessing these things expand/contract pretty good under boost. Any reason Paxton would have rubber boots here vs silicon? Also, this car is fair weather driven and garage kept with no more than 5k miles on sc setup so it isn't exposed to the elements really and running a conservative 5# of boost.
I see plenty of 90's for a lot less than $75, there's nothing special about this 90 either.

Re: Rubber vs silicon elbows?
I wouldn't pay $75 for a rubber hose, that's for certain. I'd get a fiber reinforced silicone coupler and call it a day and pay 1/5 the price probably. Even better still would be to dig a stainless elbow up and use 4 tbolts/2 couplers and replace the elbow entirely. If it's a dual blade TB that you're going into they make some nice 90s for about 100 bucks. That's the way to go if you're wanting something that will look nice, last and have awesome flow.

Try frozenboost.com, I get most of my fiber reinforced silicone elbows from them.
I run them on my diesel at 5psi for hours at a time and they see up to 15psi of boost with no problems.

I use cheap ebay silicone couplers on my TTA and they hold up to 25psi just fine. I use the clamps that have a big bolt though, not cheap hose clamps.

Yeah, ended up ordering some eBay cheapos. Pennies on the dollar compared to the $75 Paxton wanted!
