wanting more power
i have a early 90's 350 small block in my car and it just seems to be.... well old. It should be giving me about 300hp and I just want more.
i know a supercharger would do it nicely but i have no idea if my engine would take if being 20 years old. what would i have to replace so it wont fail. or should it be fine how it is? and how would i go about doing it because currently my car is an OBD-1 controlled carburetor (totally stupid)
or would it be too much work and money and it would be a lot better off just replacing the old carb with a holly

The most important thing you said in this post is "too much work and money". I'm not sure what your tolerance for each is, but I can assure you there will be a good bit of work and a lot of money to go with a decent forced induction setup. Starting from a Q-Jet and ending up supercharged or turbocharged will cost you at least $2500-$3500 initially. And that is assuming your current engine build is suitable for forced induction. A stock motor is fine.. something built with flattops may not be. Also soon there-after you will be looking at a transmission build.
If those numbers are intimidating, go with an intake/holley/nitrous upgrade and save up for that transmission build!

Re: wanting more power
i was meaning "too much money" like if I were to do it i would have to rebuild the engine just so it could handle forced injection. but if i dont have to then it becomes something within reach. (even though i only have about 3500 into it right now, so getting a super/turbo would DOUBLE that). although i did put a freshly rebuilt T5 WC transmission in. (and when i mean freshly i mean less than 20 miles)
[EDIT:] it seems that after some research alot of people say the t5 shouldn't even handle my engine i have now. but alot of others say their t5 works just fine with their big blocks. so its a "glass half full/half empty" subject [:EDIT]
just throwing around ideas, but about what HP should I expect to be at if I do add a turbo/super to it?

Re: wanting more power
I can tell you my fastest times so far were on my stock 140k 5.7 with an ebay turbo. It went 7.71 in the 1/8th. After building a new engine, thinking I'd reached the limits of the stock one, I've discovered the limitation was something else (most likely the restrictive turbo log I had. I put 10k miles on that engine and it would still keep going if I put it back in. It was making close to 400 rwhp. That was on around 14 psi intercooled.
I know the feeling.. I paid $700 for the car and the turbo setup cost almost four times that much when all was said and done! And now I have probably $17k in the car between the engine, transmission, paint and the recent suspension mods and header parts. Crazy how it all adds up!
